Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Compumatic XL1000 Series — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (AAP2000)
This is a 9.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Compumatic XL1000 and XL1000e time clocks. It replaces OEM part AAP2000 and restores battery-backed power to the clock's timekeeping circuitry, display, and RAM. Fit this battery when the clock loses time during power outages or shows a low battery warning.
- XL1000 and XL1000e compatibility: Both models run the same 9.6V battery rail and use the same AAP2000 connector footprint. The battery feeds the RTC circuit and battery-backed RAM — the two functions that keep time and employee data alive when mains power drops.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the XL1000 platform. The BMS held stable voltage across the RTC and RAM backup rails without false low-battery trips during discharge.
- Data export before swap: Export all employee attendance records and enrollment data before removing the old battery. The XL1000 stores this data in battery-backed RAM — cutting power without an export will erase all records and employee profiles.
Time clock losing all employee data after battery swap
The XL1000 keeps attendance records and employee enrollments in RAM that depends on continuous battery voltage to retain data. The moment battery voltage drops to zero — even briefly during a swap — that RAM clears completely. There is no internal capacitor on most XL1000 units to bridge the gap. Before pulling the old battery, use the clock's export function to save all data to a USB drive or PC, then restore after the new battery is seated and the clock has fully powered back up.
Clock not maintaining correct time after a power outage
If the XL1000 resets to a default time every time mains power drops, the backup battery is no longer holding sufficient voltage to sustain the RTC circuit. A degraded Ni-MH cell can measure above 8V on a multimeter at rest but still collapse under the small sustained load of the RTC — a resting voltage check alone won't catch this. Replace the battery and allow it to reach a full charge before the next outage. After fitting the new cell, confirm the clock holds the correct time through a deliberate mains power interruption of at least 60 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions
All my employee punch records disappeared after I swapped the battery — is there any way to get them back?
Once the XL1000's battery-backed RAM loses power, the records are gone — there is no recovery from the clock itself. The RAM requires continuous voltage to retain data, and even a brief gap during a battery swap is enough to wipe it. Going forward, use the clock's built-in export function to push all attendance data to a USB drive or connected PC before removing the battery. That export takes under two minutes and prevents total data loss on every future swap.
The clock reset to the wrong time after a power cut even though I just put in a new battery — what went wrong?
A freshly installed Ni-MH battery needs a full charge cycle before it can sustain the RTC load through a mains outage. If the clock was used immediately after fitting the new battery, the cell may not have had enough stored energy to hold the RTC when power dropped. Connect the clock to mains power and let it charge uninterrupted for the full charge period specified in the XL1000 manual before testing it through another outage. After charging, cut mains power for 60 seconds and confirm the clock holds the correct time.
Fingerprint enrollment is failing after the battery replacement — the sensor scans but won't save the print — what's happening?
The XL1000's fingerprint processor requires a minimum operating voltage to complete the biometric template calculation and write it to RAM. If the new battery hasn't reached full charge yet, the sensor can initiate a scan but the processor drops out before saving the template. Let the clock charge on mains power for several hours after fitting the new battery, then retry enrollment. Check that the clock's battery indicator shows a full charge before attempting any new fingerprint registrations.
