Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Aircraftvacuums Pilot — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 14.4V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Aircraftvacuums Pilot cordless handheld vacuum. It fits the Pilot directly, restoring power to the motor and suction system when the original cell has degraded. Voltage and capacity match the original specification.
- Pilot vacuum fitment: The Pilot runs a 14.4V motor rail with a Ni-MH cell pack at this form factor — 99.74 x 43.03 x 29.13mm. The replacement cell matches the voltage, connector orientation, and pack geometry the vacuum's power circuit expects.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Pilot platform. The BMS cycled cleanly, motor engagement at startup drew expected current, and the cell held voltage under sustained suction load without tripping.
- Dock charging habit for Ni-MH cells: Do not leave the Pilot sitting on the charging dock continuously between uses. Ni-MH cells on permanent trickle charge lose capacity faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This is a voltage sag issue, not a capacity issue. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor pulls harder to maintain airflow, drawing more current than rated. That current spike causes the cell voltage to sag under load, triggering a perceived power drop even though the battery still shows charge. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the cell is fine.
Motor cutting out mid-use and then recovering after a pause
This is the BMS tripping on an overcurrent condition, not a dead battery. Sustained restricted airflow — from a clogged filter or a blockage in the nozzle — forces the motor to draw above its rated current threshold. The BMS cuts the circuit to protect the cell, and it resets once current demand drops. Clear the blockage, check the filter, and restart. If it cuts out again on a clean filter, the cell capacity has degraded enough that the pack can no longer supply the motor's start current, and replacement is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Aircraftvacuums Pilot has noticeably less suction than it used to, but the battery still charges — what's happening?
A degraded Ni-MH cell delivers lower sustained voltage under load even when it accepts a charge normally. The motor runs, but it doesn't get enough voltage to spin at full speed, so suction drops. First rule out a blocked filter — a restricted motor draws more current, which makes the voltage sag worse. If the filter is clean and suction is still weak, the cell has lost too much capacity and needs replacing.
My Pilot vacuum keeps cutting out after a few seconds of use, then starts again if I wait — is this the battery or a blockage?
This is almost always a BMS overcurrent trip caused by restricted airflow, not a faulty cell. When the nozzle or filter is blocked, the motor pulls current above the BMS cutoff threshold and the circuit shuts down to protect the pack. Check the filter and clear any nozzle blockage first. If the cut-out stops after that, the cell is fine — if it continues on a clean filter, the cell can no longer supply adequate start current and should be replaced.
We left the Pilot on its charging dock for several months and now it runs for far less time than it should — did the charger damage it?
Continuous trickle charging is the most common cause of capacity fade in Ni-MH cordless vacuum batteries. The charger keeps pushing a small current into a full cell, generating heat and breaking down the cell chemistry over time. A new cell fitted now will recover full capacity, but the same fade will return quickly if the dock-charging habit continues. Charge to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it to charge when it is depleted.
