Fits Bissell 2142, 1605C, 1974, and 1605 cordless stick vacuums; replaces OEM part 4ICR19/65 and 1607381.
14.4V and 2600mAh capacity sustains motor torque under carpet load without the voltage sag that kills suction mid-cycle.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive-side lock tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell on a 2142 motor load — BMS held steady under sustained restriction, no early shutoff or recovery lag.
Remove the battery from the charging dock immediately after reaching full charge; continuous dock contact degrades capacity faster than charge-and-remove cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bissell 2142 / 1605C Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1607381)

This is a 14.4V 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Bissell 2142 cordless stick vacuum. It also fits the 1605C, 1974, and 1605 series, along with eight additional Bissell models sharing the same voltage rail and connector. Capacity is rated at 2600mAh (37.44Wh) and matches the original cell specification.

  • Cross-model fit — 2142, 1605C, 1974, 1605 and more: These Bissell stick vacuums share the same 14.4V pack format, BMS handshake protocol, and terminal connector. A single cell revision covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start events on a 2142 body. The BMS handled inrush current without tripping, and cell voltage held steady through sustained suction load on both hard floor and carpet modes.
  • Dock charging behaviour on these vacuums: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously. Bissell stick vacuums on permanent dock charge develop capacity fade faster than units charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than the cell can deliver at its present state of charge. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling current above the pack's rated discharge rate. The BMS does not trip — suction just falls off as voltage sags under load. Clear the filter first, then check whether suction loss persists with a clean filter and a freshly charged pack.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. Sustained restricted airflow — from a full dustbin, blocked inlet, or clogged filter — pushes motor current past the pack's protection threshold. The BMS shuts the output, waits for the cell temperature to settle, then resets. Empty the bin, check the filter for blockage, and confirm the inlet is clear before resuming. If the cutout still occurs on a clean machine, measure resting pack voltage — it should read at least 16.4V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Bissell 2142 loses suction halfway through a clean but the battery light still shows full — what's going on?

The battery indicator on these vacuums reflects cell voltage at rest, not under load. When the filter is even partially blocked, the motor draws more current than the pack can sustain, and voltage sags mid-pull without triggering the low indicator. Clean the filter and empty the bin first — that alone clears this fault in most cases. If suction still drops on a clean machine, charge the pack fully and retest; a resting voltage below 16.4V after charging points to a worn cell.

The vacuum cuts out after about a minute of use on carpet, then works again if I wait — is that the battery or the motor?

That cut-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip. Heavy carpet forces the motor to work against more resistance, which spikes current draw above the pack's protection limit, and the BMS shuts output until the cell cools. Check the inlet and filter for any restriction before assuming the battery is at fault. If the trip still happens on a clean machine with a fully charged pack, confirm the resting voltage reads at least 16.4V — a degraded cell will sag under carpet load even when the indicator shows charged.

My replacement battery charges fine but the Bissell 2142 runs flat much faster than the old pack used to — what causes that?

Capacity fade on these vacuums is almost always caused by leaving the unit on the charging dock between uses. The dock does not switch to a true storage mode — it maintains a low trickle that stresses Li-ion cells over time and shrinks usable capacity. Charge the new pack to full, remove it from the dock, and only dock it again when it needs a charge. After two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles off the dock, runtime should stabilise at the rated 2600mAh output.
