Fits Conga Excellence 990 and replaces the OEM 14.4V lithium-ion battery pack for this model line.
14.4V and 2600mAh capacity delivers 37.44Wh — enough to restore full floor coverage on carpets and hard surfaces before recharge.
Connector seats vertically into the motor head; locking tab clicks when seated correctly and prevents accidental ejection during operation.
We bench-tested this cell on a 990 motor load — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion, delivered stable voltage under suction demand with no early cutoff.
Remove the battery from the charging dock immediately after full charge completes; continuous dock residence causes trickle-charge capacity fade in this chemistry within weeks.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Conga Excellence 990 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V 2600mAh lithium-ion battery for the Conga Excellence 990, 990 Vital, and 1090 robotic vacuum series. It slots into the underside battery bay and reconnects to the vacuum's main board via the original connector. Capacity is rated at 37.44Wh, matching the original cell specification.

  • Excellence 990 and 1090 platform compatibility: These models share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The same cell pack works across the range because Conga standardised the battery interface across this generation of robot vacuums.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge and discharge cycle on a 990-series unit. The BMS negotiated correctly with the charger, charge termination triggered at the expected voltage, and the vacuum's indicator cleared without fault codes.
  • Dock charging habit for this vacuum: Do not leave the Conga on the charging dock permanently between uses. Continuous trickle charge on lithium cells in robot vacuums accelerates capacity fade faster than periodic charge cycles. Charge to full, then remove from the dock until the next clean.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low on the Excellence 990

The 990's motor draws more current when airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling the cell voltage down faster than the indicator expects. The indicator reads state of charge, not motor load, so the display still shows adequate charge while suction is already weak. A degraded cell compounds this because internal resistance rises with age, causing voltage to sag further under the same load. Clean the filter first; if suction still drops early with a new battery, check for blockages in the brush roll housing.

Motor cuts out mid-cycle then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a battery failure. When the brush roll snags carpet fibres or debris, current draw spikes sharply — the BMS cuts power to protect the cell, then resets once the draw drops back below the trip threshold. It can look like a flat battery but the vacuum restarts on the same charge. Clear the brush roll, check that the filter is clean, and run the vacuum again — if the cutout stops, the BMS was responding correctly to a restricted motor, not a faulty cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Conga 990 battery fades noticeably after only a few months — is this a cell problem or how I'm charging it?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade in robot vacuums. Leaving the 990 on the dock permanently means the cell sits at full charge under a trickle current for days at a time, which degrades lithium cells faster than normal charge cycles. The cell itself is not defective — the charging habit is. Charge to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it to charge when depleted.

The replacement battery charges fine but the Conga 990 still cuts power after only light use — what's wrong?

Check the filter before assuming the battery is at fault. A clogged filter forces the motor to draw significantly more current than rated, which pulls cell voltage down faster and can trip the BMS cutoff well before the battery is actually depleted. Remove and clean the filter, then run a full charge-discharge cycle — suction duration should recover. If the motor still cuts out on a clean filter, measure resting voltage after a full charge; it should read at or above 16.4V.

The Conga 990 won't start at all after fitting the replacement battery — the dock light just blinks

A blinking dock light after a battery swap usually means the BMS has not yet initialised with the charger. Remove the battery, refit it firmly to ensure the connector is fully seated, then place the vacuum back on the dock and leave it for a full charge cycle without interrupting it. Some 990-series units require the BMS to complete one uninterrupted charge handshake before the main board will allow the motor to run.
