Fits Disston EGS1A1, EGS1A4, and EGS6 cordless vacuums; replaces original 3.6V Ni-MH packs.
3.6V, 3000mAh delivers the voltage and capacity your vacuum motor requires for full suction power.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot; locking tab seats flush with the housing.
We bench-tested this cell against the EGS1A1 motor under load; BMS handled sustained draw without cutoff.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock continuously — dock charging causes capacity fade faster than charging only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Disston EGS1A1 / EGS6 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Disston cordless handheld vacuums. It fits the EGS1A1, EGS1A4, and EGS6 models. When the original cell degrades and the vacuum loses suction or won't hold a charge, this cell restores full function without replacing the unit.

  • EGS1A1, EGS1A4, and EGS6 compatibility: These three models share the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH platform and connector footprint. The battery housing dimensions (66.57 × 44.30 × 22.17 mm) match the original bay. No modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the EGS1A1 charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge without error. Discharge held steady at rated voltage under motor load across multiple runs.
  • Dock charging discipline on these vacuums: Disston handheld vacuums are frequently left on the charging dock between uses. Ni-MH cells in this voltage class degrade noticeably faster under continuous trickle charge. Charge fully, then remove from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

On the EGS series vacuums, suction loss often happens well before the battery indicator signals low. A partially clogged filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, pulling the cell voltage down faster than the indicator circuit accounts for. The result reads as battery failure when the actual cause is airflow restriction. Clear the filter and retest — if suction recovers to full strength, the cell is fine. If suction stays weak on a clean filter, check that the cell rests above 3.2V under load before replacing it.

Motor cutting out mid-use then recovering after a pause

This cut-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. It happens when sustained suction restriction — a blocked nozzle, compressed filter, or hair-wrapped roller — pushes motor draw past the cell's protection threshold. The BMS disconnects, the motor stops, and the pack resets after the load clears. Fix the restriction first. If the motor still trips on a clear airflow path, the cell's internal resistance has climbed high enough that normal motor-start current triggers the cutoff — at that point the cell needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Disston EGS1A1 suction drops off fast even with a new battery — what's going wrong?

A partially blocked filter makes the motor draw more than rated current, which pulls the cell voltage down early and makes it behave like a weak battery even when it's not. Remove and clean the filter, then run the vacuum again. If suction holds longer after cleaning, the cell is not the problem. If the drop returns quickly on a clear filter, check the cell voltage under load — it should stay above 3.2V during use.

My Disston EGS6 keeps cutting out for a few seconds then restarting on its own — is that the battery failing?

That cut-and-restart behaviour is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed cell. It triggers when the motor draw spikes above the protection threshold — usually because airflow is restricted at the nozzle or filter. Clear any blockage and run the vacuum on an open floor surface. If trips stop, the restriction was the cause. If it still trips on an unobstructed path, the cell's internal resistance has risen enough that even normal start-up current is setting off the cutoff — replace the cell.

I left my Disston EGS1A4 on the charging dock for weeks and now it barely runs — did the charger damage the battery?

Ni-MH cells at 3.6V are susceptible to capacity fade from continuous trickle charging, and the EGS series dock does not cut off cleanly when full. Weeks of dock time can permanently reduce the cell's usable capacity. A replacement cell will restore performance, but charge it only until full and remove it from the dock after each charge cycle. Going forward, run the vacuum until suction noticeably weakens before recharging rather than topping it up after every short use.
