Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Karcher KC55 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (6.654-118.0)
This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Kärcher KC55 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner. It fits models KC55, 1.258-505.0, 1258-5050, and 12585050. Capacity matches the original specification at 9.6Wh — no output adjustment needed after fitting.
- KC55 platform fitment: These model numbers share the same 4.8V cell stack, connector pinout, and BMS signal profile. Swapping between them requires no wiring changes — the pack seats and communicates identically across all listed variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under repeated suction cycles against a simulated carpet load. The BMS held voltage steady through sustained draw and did not trip on normal operating current. Charge acceptance across a standard cycle was consistent with rated capacity.
- Dock charging on the KC55: Do not leave the KC55 sitting on the charging dock between uses. Kärcher's dock delivers a continuous trickle once the cell is full, and Ni-MH cells degrade faster under that condition than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.
Suction dropping before the KC55 battery indicator reaches low
Ni-MH cells show a flat discharge curve for most of their cycle, then voltage drops sharply near the end. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor draws more current than rated to maintain airflow, accelerating that voltage drop artificially. The vacuum loses suction well before the indicator triggers because the BMS is responding to current load, not elapsed time. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction holds after that, the cell rather than the filter was not the root cause.
Motor cuts out mid-use and then recovers after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction airflow is restricted — a blocked nozzle, a full dust container, or a clogged filter — the motor works harder and draws a current spike the BMS interprets as a fault. It cuts power to protect the cell, then resets once temperature and current normalise. Clear the restriction, empty the dust container, and check the filter before restarting. If the cut-out repeats on an unobstructed vacuum, measure cell voltage under load — it should hold above 4.0V during normal operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KC55 has noticeably less suction now than when the battery was new — could the cell be causing this even though it still runs?
Yes. A degraded Ni-MH cell sags under motor load before it fails outright — the motor runs but at reduced voltage, which directly cuts suction power. Check the filter first, since a blocked filter produces the same symptom by forcing the motor to work harder. If the filter is clean and suction is still weak, measure the cell voltage under load — a healthy 4.8V pack should hold above 4.0V while the motor is running. If it drops below that, the cell is the cause.
The KC55 cuts out after a short burst of use, then starts again if I wait — what's happening?
The BMS is tripping on an overcurrent spike, most likely caused by a restricted airflow path rather than a failing cell. Empty the dust container, clean the filter, and check the nozzle for any blockage before testing again. If the cut-out stops after clearing those, the cell was not the problem. If it still trips on a clear vacuum, the cell can no longer sustain the motor's start-up current draw and needs replacing.
The replacement battery won't charge in my KC55 — the dock light doesn't do anything after I fit it.
Kärcher's charger circuit looks for a minimum cell voltage before initiating a charge cycle — a deeply discharged Ni-MH pack can read below that threshold and the dock ignores it. Try placing the pack in the dock for 30 minutes anyway; some chargers will trickle-prime a low cell before switching to full charge. If the dock light still shows no activity, check that the battery contacts are fully seated and free of oxidation. A resting cell voltage below 3.5V on a 4.8V Ni-MH pack indicates it may need a manual boost charge before the dock will recognise it.
