Fits XRobot M-788 robotic vacuum; replaces OEM battery pack for this model.
14.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH delivers stated capacity across full discharge cycle without voltage sag under motor load.
Battery slides into the M-788 dock slot with flat connector alignment; locking tab seats flush with housing.
We bench-cycled this cell through five full charge-discharge runs; BMS showed stable voltage delivery under sustained motor draw.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock continuously — Ni-MH cells on trickle charge degrade capacity faster; remove from dock once fully charged.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

XRobot M-788 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the XRobot M-788 robotic vacuum cleaner. It powers the motor drive and cleaning system in the M-788. When the original pack degrades after repeated cycles, suction drops and run time shortens — this battery restores full operating voltage to the unit.

  • M-788 motor rail voltage: The M-788 runs its brush motor and suction fan from a shared 14.4V rail. A degraded cell causes voltage sag under load, which the vacuum's control board reads as a low-battery condition even when the indicator hasn't triggered. This pack holds the rail stable under normal motor draw.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the M-788 platform. The BMS held charge acceptance through all cycles without tripping, and the pack delivered rated capacity at the motor's operating current draw.
  • Dock charging behaviour on the M-788: Do not leave the M-788 sitting on the charging dock indefinitely after the pack reaches full charge. Ni-MH cells on continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the unit from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This is one of the most common M-788 complaints, and the battery is usually the cause — but not always. A degraded Ni-MH pack loses voltage under load before the cell voltage drops far enough to trigger the low-battery indicator. The vacuum's motor runs at reduced speed, cutting suction noticeably. Replacing the pack resolves this if the filter is clean; if suction still drops after a new battery, clear the filter and check the inlet for partial blockages before assuming a motor fault.

M-788 motor cutting out briefly then recovering mid-clean

When the M-788 encounters a blocked filter or a rug pile that restricts airflow, the motor draws more current than rated to maintain fan speed. If the battery's BMS reads this sustained overcurrent draw, it trips and cuts power momentarily — the unit stops, then resumes once current normalises. This is not a motor fault; it is the BMS protecting the cells. Clear the filter fully, confirm the inlet path is unobstructed, and the cutout will stop occurring at normal operating current.

Frequently Asked Questions

My XRobot M-788 loses suction halfway through a clean but the battery light isn't on yet — is that a battery problem?

Most likely yes. A worn Ni-MH pack sags in voltage under motor load before the cell voltage drops low enough to trigger the indicator — the vacuum reads normal on the display but the motor is running slow. Install the new pack and run a full clean; if suction is still weak, check the filter before anything else, as a clogged filter forces the motor to draw above rated current and mimics the same symptom.

The M-788 keeps cutting out for a few seconds then starting again on its own — what's causing that?

That's the BMS tripping on an overcurrent event, not a faulty motor. When airflow is restricted — blocked filter, tangled brush roll, or heavy carpet — the motor pulls more current than the BMS allows to protect the cells, so it cuts power briefly until current drops. Clean the filter completely, clear the inlet, and check the brush roll for hair wrap. If the cutouts stop, the BMS was responding correctly to a mechanical restriction, not a battery fault.

My replacement M-788 battery fades after just a few weeks — could the charging dock be causing it?

Yes. Ni-MH cells degrade faster when left on continuous trickle charge than when charged only to full and then removed. The M-788 dock does not cut power once the pack is full — it continues to trickle charge. Charge the unit until the indicator shows full, then lift it off the dock and store it off-charge until the next use.
