Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Acer Aspire One AOD255 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AL10A31)
This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion battery for the Acer Aspire One AOD255 netbook series. It fits the AOD255-A01B/K, AOD255-A01B/W, AOD255-1134, AOD255-1203, and over 136 additional AOD255 variants. OEM part numbers covered include AL10A31, AL10B31, AL10BW, AL10G31, and BT.00603.121 among others.
- AOD255 platform compatibility: The entire AOD255 line uses the same 11.1V three-cell Li-ion architecture with a shared connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. One replacement cell covers the full range of AOD255 variants without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an AOD255 unit and confirmed full charge acceptance to 12.6V, correct BMS communication across all three pins, and stable discharge down to the BMS cutoff threshold without mid-cycle interruption.
- Post-install recalibration on the AOD255: After fitting this battery, run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
AOD255 shutting down at 20–30% battery shown
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load before the OS gauge reaches zero, triggering an immediate shutdown. The fix is two or three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100%. After those cycles, the gauge IC re-maps the cutoff point against the new cell's actual voltage profile.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor or unknown after swap
The AOD255 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers that were written by the original cell over its service life. A new cell resets those registers, and the BIOS flags the mismatch as a fault rather than a new battery. This is not a defect in the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a complete charge to 100%, and the BIOS learn cycle will rewrite the EEPROM values to match the new cell's actual capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Aspire One AOD255 shuts off suddenly even though the screen shows 25% battery left — is the new cell faulty?
The cell itself is not the fault here. The fuel gauge IC on the AOD255 motherboard is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the voltage drop under load and cuts power before the display gauge reaches zero. Run two full discharge cycles — drain to automatic hibernate, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time. After those calibration cycles, the shutdowns stop because the IC has re-mapped the voltage cliff against the new cell.
Windows shows the replacement battery Wh rating as different from the 48.84Wh listed on the product page — which number is correct?
The 48.84Wh figure from the product data is the actual measured capacity of this cell. Windows reads Wh from the battery's EEPROM, which still holds the value written by the old cell during its last service cycle. That EEPROM value updates after the new cell completes a full discharge-to-hibernate and an uninterrupted charge to 100%. Once the BIOS learn cycle runs, the reported Wh figure aligns with the physical cell.
The AOD255 fuel gauge is jumping around wildly — showing 80%, then 45%, then 90% within the same session after fitting the new battery.
Erratic gauge readings in the first few sessions are caused by the fuel gauge IC having no reference data for the new cell's charge and discharge curve. The IC needs at least two to three full cycles to build an accurate model. Each cycle should be a complete drain to hibernate followed by a charge to 100% with the lid closed and the machine idle. After three cycles, the gauge stabilises and tracks charge state accurately across the full range.
