This is a 3.75V, 8050mAh (30.19Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Acer Aspire Switch 10E 2-in-1 convertible, covering models SW3-013 and SW3-013-1566. It replaces OEM part AP15A3R using the same flat-cell construction the chassis requires. The ultra-slim 3.60mm cell profile fits within the tablet half of the Switch 10E without modification.

Why the Switch 10E BIOS reports poor battery health immediately after a swap

When a new cell goes in, that EEPROM data does not match the fresh chemistry, so the BIOS flags it as degraded. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full calibration cycle — full discharge to hibernate, full charge to 100% — allows the fuel gauge IC to write new baseline data and clears the warning. After two or three cycles the health reading stabilises at a normal figure.

The meter shows 25% while the cell voltage is already dropping below the load-sustain threshold under combined CPU and display draw. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles — by the second cycle the gauge IC recalibrates and the cutoff aligns correctly with the displayed percentage, which should track down to around 3.5V per cell before shutdown.

No — this is an EEPROM mismatch. The battery management system reads Wh data stored on the old cell's chip, and until the fuel gauge IC runs a full calibration cycle against the new cell's actual chemistry, it reports the figure from EEPROM rather than the real capacity. Run one complete discharge to hibernate cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that cycle the system reads the correct 30.19Wh figure.

Windows is showing the battery percentage jumping around wildly — it reads 60%, then 80%, then 45% within minutes of unplugging.

The fuel gauge IC inside the Switch 10E needs several charge-discharge cycles to map the new cell's voltage curve accurately. Fresh out of the box, it has no baseline for this cell's chemistry, so the percentage estimate swings as the IC guesses from incomplete data. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge-to-100% cycles without interruption. By the third cycle the gauge stabilises and percentage readings track smoothly with actual cell voltage.

The new battery charges fine but stops at 80% and will not go higher — the charging light stays on but the percentage never moves past that point.

On the Switch 10E this is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Acer's firmware includes a battery care mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce heat stress during prolonged plugged-in use — check Acer Care Center or the BIOS power settings under "Battery Health Mode" or "Battery Limit." Disable that setting, unplug and replug the adapter, and the charge will continue to 100%.
