Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2017 — 11.58V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (01AV430)
This 11.58V, 4800mAh (55.58Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2017 series. It fits the slim 5.40mm battery bay used across 2017 X1 Carbon variants, including TP X1-20KHS2H300, TP X1-20KGS2BA00, and TP X1-20KHS04K00. Cross-references include SB10K97587, SB10K97586, SB10K97588, 01AV429, 01AV431, and 01AV494.
- 2017 X1 Carbon platform fit: All 2017 X1 Carbon variants share the same 11.58V three-cell Li-Polymer architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single part number covers 222+ sub-models on this generation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2017 chassis. The BMS initialised without error, the BIOS recognised the battery on first boot, and the charge controller accepted a full 0–100% cycle without tripping a fault code.
- Post-install discharge cycle on ThinkPad: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears in Lenovo Vantage after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement
The ThinkPad BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM — not from live cell measurements. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM data does not yet match the BIOS's learned profile from the previous battery. The system flags this mismatch as degraded health, even with a brand-new cell installed. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate then a complete uninterrupted charge forces the BIOS to rewrite its stored profile against the new cell's actual chemistry.
Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% shown on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. During high CPU and display loads, the cell's voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge predicts — the system hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff while the OS still shows 20–30% remaining. It is not a faulty cell. After two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the shutdowns stop. Confirm calibration is complete by checking that the gauge reads below 5% before the system triggers hibernate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Lenovo Vantage show "Replace Battery" or 0% health right after I install this new cell?
The ThinkPad BIOS stores health data in the old battery's EEPROM — when you swap cells, that stored profile is gone and the system flags the new cell as unknown or degraded. This is a calibration state, not a fault. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that learn cycle completes, Vantage should clear the warning and report normal health.
My laptop shuts off suddenly while the battery gauge still shows 25% — is this cell defective?
The fuel gauge IC on the X1 Carbon needs two to three full cycles to map the new cell's actual voltage curve. Until it does, it misjudges the voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load, triggering a hardware cutoff while the OS still reads 20–30%. We confirmed this on the bench — the cell voltage was already below safe threshold when the OS gauge had not yet caught up. Complete three full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles, and the shutdowns will stop.
The system info page shows the wrong Wh rating — it says 57Wh but the battery is listed as 55.58Wh. Is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Wh figure shown in Windows or Lenovo Vantage pulls the rated value from the battery's EEPROM, which can differ slightly from the measured capacity of the actual chemistry used in a given production batch. The 01AV430 is spec'd at 55.58Wh; a reading of 56–57Wh is within normal EEPROM rounding for this part number. Check the Design Capacity vs Full Charge Capacity values in HWiNFO64 — if they are close to each other, the cell is functioning correctly.
