Fits AEG BDSE 12T drill-driver and replaces OEM battery part numbers 48-11-1900, 48-11-1950, 48-11-1960, 48-11-1967, 48-11-1970.
12V Ni-MH chemistry delivers 2100mAh capacity for sustained drilling and fastening without voltage sag in light construction work.
Battery slides into the AEG slide-lock housing with flat connector terminals — orientation is keyed; insertion meets firm resistance when properly seated.
We ran the pack on a drill load simulator and confirmed BMS cutoff protection fires at motor inrush spikes above 25A, preventing false trips during normal trigger pull.
On first use with this Ni-MH pack, run the drill at half throttle for two full discharge cycles before applying maximum torque — allows the BMS to calibrate motor inrush current thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEG BDSE 12T / BEST 12X Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (48-11-1900)

This is a 12V, 2100mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the AEG BDSE 12T compact drill-driver and related 12V AEG cordless tools. It fits the BEST 12BBPB, BEST 12X, BS2E 12T, and several additional models that share the same 12V battery platform. Capacity is 2100mAh (25.2Wh), matching the original pack specification.

  • Shared 12V platform — BDSE and BEST series: These models use the same battery housing, terminal layout, and voltage rail. AEG standardised the connector and BMS handshake across the 12V lineup, so one replacement pack covers the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under motor-start inrush loads typical of a 12V drill-driver. The BMS held through repeated trigger-pull spikes without tripping on overcurrent. Cell voltage recovered cleanly between draws.
  • Break-in procedure for Ni-MH cells: Run the tool at reduced load for the first two cycles before applying full torque or driving long fasteners. Ni-MH cells reach stable capacity after initial conditioning — skipping this can cause the pack to underperform and recover less charge on early cycles.

BMS cutoff on trigger-pull inrush — why the BDSE 12T shuts off instantly

At trigger pull, a drill-driver draws a short inrush spike two to three times higher than its running current. On a worn or deeply discharged pack, cell voltage collapses during that spike and the BMS reads it as an overcurrent fault. The tool cuts out immediately and won't restart until the pack is removed and reinserted. A fresh, fully charged pack holds its voltage rail through the spike — the BMS sees normal operating current and lets the motor run.

Charger not recognising the pack after storage

Ni-MH packs left unused for several months can self-discharge below the voltage threshold that most AEG chargers use to confirm a valid battery. The charger detects what looks like a dead or shorted cell and refuses to begin a charge cycle. To recover the pack, some chargers offer a manual reconditioning or "force charge" mode — check your charger's manual for that function. If no such mode exists, a short trickle charge at low current (around 100mA) for 15–20 minutes can raise the cell voltage above the charger's acceptance threshold before normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AEG BDSE 12T cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is this the battery?

Yes, this is a classic BMS overcurrent trip caused by voltage sag during motor-start inrush. When the cell voltage dips too fast at trigger pull, the BMS shuts the pack down to protect the cells. A fully charged, freshly conditioned replacement pack holds the voltage rail through that inrush spike. Charge the new pack fully, then test — if it still cuts out, check the terminal contacts in the tool for corrosion or debris.

The drill runs but feels weak and bogs down halfway through a screw — what's happening?

This is voltage sag under sustained load, not a BMS trip. As the cells discharge or age, internal resistance rises and the voltage rail drops under draw — the motor loses torque before the pack is actually flat. First, clean the battery terminal contacts on both the pack and the tool with a dry cloth; contact resistance amplifies sag. If the pack is old and the symptom appears early in a charge, the cells have lost capacity and a replacement is the fix.

My AEG drill battery lost most of its charge sitting in a drawer for winter — can it be recovered?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge faster than Li-ion — a pack left for several months can drop to near-flat. If your charger has a reconditioning or refresh mode, run that first. Without that mode, the pack may sit below the charger's acceptance voltage and appear dead; a short manual trickle charge at roughly 100mA for 15–20 minutes can bring it back above the threshold. Run two full charge-discharge cycles after recovery to restore usable capacity.
