Fits AEG ZB4106WD, Rapido ZB4106, and FM72 cordless vacuums; replaces OEM part AG406.
Delivers 7.2V at 2000mAh capacity; sustains motor torque on carpet without premature voltage sag.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with positive contact pins aligned; locking tab seats flush.
Bench tested on ZB4106WD motor load; BMS accepted charge immediately with no fault codes on first cycle.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock continuously — Ni-MH packs fade fast under trickle charge, so remove from dock once fully charged.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEG ZB4106WD / Rapido ZB4106 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (AG406)

This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the AEG ZB4106WD and Rapido ZB4106 cordless vacuum cleaners. It also fits the FM72. It replaces OEM part numbers AG406, AG406WD, AG4106, AG4108, and several AEG stock codes including 90005510600 and 90016553200.

  • ZB4106WD and Rapido ZB4106 fitment: These models share the same 7.2V battery bay, connector pinout, and cell count. The BMS on both units expects the same charge termination signal, so one cell pack covers all three fit models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the AEG ZB4106 motor controller and confirmed BMS charge acceptance, correct voltage delivery under motor load, and clean cutoff at low-cell threshold. No mid-run trips on standard carpet mode.
  • Dock charging habit on AEG stick vacuums: Do not leave the ZB4106 sitting on its charging dock continuously. AEG's charger for this range does not drop to a true maintenance current once the pack is full. Trickle current over days accelerates Ni-MH cell degradation. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the ZB4106WD

This happens when the Ni-MH cells have developed a voltage sag under motor load — the resting voltage looks acceptable to the indicator circuit, but the pack cannot sustain the current the motor draws on thick carpet or dense debris. The indicator reads state of charge at rest, not under load. A pack with aged or partially sulphated cells will drop below the motor controller's minimum operating voltage during a suction burst, causing noticeable performance loss well before the indicator flashes. Test the pack under load with a multimeter at the terminals — a healthy 7.2V Ni-MH pack should hold above 6.5V during active motor draw.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and restarts after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a flat battery. It happens when suction is restricted — a clogged filter or blocked nozzle forces the motor to pull more current than the pack's protection circuit allows. The BMS cuts output to protect the cells, then resets once current demand drops. Before swapping the battery, remove and tap out the filter and check the nozzle and hose for blockages. If the motor runs cleanly on an open nozzle but trips with the head attached, the fault is airflow restriction, not the cell pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AEG ZB4106WD runs for a short time and suction feels weak even with a new filter — what's happening?

A partially blocked filter is the most common cause. Even a filter that looks clean can restrict airflow enough to make the motor draw above its rated current, which causes the 7.2V Ni-MH pack to voltage-sag under load earlier than expected. Remove the filter, clean or replace it, and retest on bare floor before carpeted surfaces. If suction improves immediately, the filter was the restriction — not the battery.

The ZB4106WD motor cuts out after about 20 seconds on carpet, then comes back on its own — is the battery faulty?

That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead cell. When airflow is restricted by a blockage or dirty filter, the motor pulls more current than the pack's protection circuit permits, so it cuts output and resets once the draw drops. Run the vacuum with the floor head detached — if it runs without cutting out, the fault is airflow restriction at the nozzle or filter, not the battery. Clear the blockage first, then retest.

I leave my Rapido ZB4106 on the charging dock overnight every night — could that be why the battery faded so fast?

Yes. AEG's charger for the ZB4106 range does not reliably drop to a safe maintenance current after the Ni-MH pack reaches full charge. Extended dock time means the cells continue to receive trickle current, which degrades Ni-MH capacity significantly faster than normal charge cycles. Charge the pack to full and remove it from the dock — do not store the vacuum on the dock between uses. With a replacement pack, adopt this habit from the first charge.
