Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Agfa DV-5000G / OPTIMA Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Agfa DV-5000G, DV-5000Z, OPTIMA 1338mT, and OPTIMA 2338mT digital cameras. The cell matches the OEM voltage rail and physical footprint exactly. Fit it and shoot — no modifications needed.

  • DV-5000 and OPTIMA platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions (53.20 × 35.30 × 7.10mm), voltage rail, and contact pin layout. One cell covers the full group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the DV-5000G body and monitored BMS response across charge and discharge. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage threshold and accepted a full recharge without faults.
  • First-use charge cycle on camera BMS: Run the first charge through the camera body or OEM charger before heavy shooting. Some Agfa BMS firmware maps the battery-remaining indicator to a discharge curve it only calibrates after one supervised cycle from within the body itself.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

The Agfa DV-5000G reads battery state by mapping terminal voltage against a stored discharge curve. A new cell with a different internal resistance profile can sit at 3.6V and still trigger the low-battery icon. This happens because the camera's fuel gauge logic was calibrated to the original cell's curve. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle in the camera body and the indicator should track correctly from that point forward.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the DV-5000G display

Erratic percentage readings usually mean the camera's voltage-to-capacity lookup table is misaligned with the new cell's actual discharge curve. Li-ion cells from different manufacturers have slightly different mid-discharge voltage plateaus. The camera samples terminal voltage and converts it to a percentage — if the curve doesn't match, the reading jumps. Discharge the cell fully, then charge to 100% uninterrupted, and the display will re-anchor to the correct thresholds at approximately 3.0V cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Agfa DV-5000G shows "no battery" with the new cell inserted — is the cell dead?

The camera's BMS runs an authentication check on insertion and can reject an unfamiliar cell on the first contact. Remove the battery, wait 10 seconds, reinsert it, and power on again. If the error persists, place the cell in the OEM charger or charge via the camera body for a full cycle — one supervised charge is usually enough for the BMS to accept the cell and clear the error.

Shot count is far lower than I expected — what's drawing the cell down faster than the spec suggests?

The rated capacity reflects a steady low-draw discharge, not real-world camera use. On the DV-5000G, the LCD, flash capacitor recharge, autofocus motor, and video codec all pull current simultaneously during active shooting. Cold ambient temperatures above 0°C also reduce usable capacity by shrinking the voltage window before the BMS hits its 3.0V cutoff. Reduce LCD brightness and limit flash use if shot count is the priority.

The flash isn't recycling fully between shots even with the battery showing half charge — why?

Flash capacitor recharge draws a sharp current spike from the cell. As the cell moves past its mid-discharge point, internal resistance rises and the terminal voltage sags during that spike — the capacitor doesn't reach full charge before the camera allows another shot. This gets worse as the cell ages. If it's happening on a new cell, check that the cell is genuinely charged above 3.7V; a cell that shipped at storage voltage (around 3.6V) will sag immediately under flash load.
