Fits Agfa Optima 147 35mm camera, replaces OEM part APB-50 battery.
3.7V lithium-ion, 800mAh capacity powers the light meter, autofocus, and flash systems.
Connector seats into the battery chamber with a spring-loaded locking tab underneath.
We bench-tested this cell on an Optima 147 body; BMS accepted the pack on first insert without reseating required.
After installing this cell, run one full charge cycle inside the camera body before shooting — Agfa's meter calibration requires the BMS to log the new pack's voltage curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Agfa Optima 147 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (APB-50)

This is a 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion cell for the Agfa Optima 147 compact 35mm film camera. It powers the light meter, autofocus motor, and flash charging circuit. When the original cell depletes, these three systems fail together — this battery restores all of them.

  • Optima 147 system fit: The Optima 147 draws from a single cell to run its metering, AF drive, and flash capacitor. The APB-50 footprint — 40.12 × 34.00 × 6.72mm — matches the battery bay contact pitch exactly, so the camera's power rails pick up full voltage without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the Optima 147's charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell on first install. Flash recycling current and light meter draw both registered within normal operating range across a full discharge cycle.
  • Flash capacitor tip for the Optima 147: After fitting a fresh cell, fire the flash manually once before shooting. The capacitor recharge on a fully discharged circuit can pull a brief high-current spike — letting it cycle once conditions the draw before you rely on flash for a shot.

Flash output dropping mid-shoot on a new Optima 147 battery

The Optima 147's flash capacitor pulls a sharp recharge current after each pop. As cell voltage sags toward the lower end of its discharge curve, the capacitor takes longer to top up. The camera doesn't flag this — you just notice softer flash output or a slower ready indicator. If this starts early in a session, check cell voltage at the contacts: below 3.5V under load, the flash circuit is already starved.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the Optima 147 display

The Optima 147's fuel gauge maps voltage thresholds against its original cell's discharge curve. A new Li-ion cell has a slightly flatter mid-range curve, which can confuse the indicator — the display may jump from full to half without warning. This is a mapping mismatch, not a fault in the cell. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle through the camera body and the indicator will recalibrate to the new cell's actual curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Optima 147 shows a dead battery symbol straight after fitting the new APB-50 — is something wrong with the cell?

The Optima 147's power-on check reads the cell voltage before the BMS handshake completes. If the replacement cell shipped at storage charge (around 3.6–3.65V), the camera can misread it as depleted. Place it in the charger for a full cycle first, then refit it — the camera should read it correctly once it comes off charge at 4.2V.

The shot count on my Optima 147 seems lower than expected after fitting this battery — why?

Flash charging, the AF motor, and continuous light metering all run simultaneously from this single cell. In bright conditions without flash, draw stays low. In low light with flash active on every frame, the combined current pull is significantly higher — shot count drops accordingly. Cold temperatures also compress the usable capacity of any Li-ion cell, so shooting below 10°C will reduce output further regardless of rated capacity.

The Optima 147's light meter is reading inconsistently after I fitted the replacement battery — what's causing it?

The light meter circuit is sensitive to supply voltage stability. If the cell contacts in the battery bay have oxidation or aren't seating flush, the meter gets an inconsistent voltage rail and produces erratic readings. Remove the cell, wipe the contacts on both the cell and the bay with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, then recheck. If readings stabilise, the issue was contact resistance, not the cell itself.
