Fits Agfeo Dect 20 cordless handset, replaces OEM part McNairF6M3EMX.
3.6V, 400mAh Ni-MH delivers adequate talk and standby power for daily cordless use.
Connector slides into handset battery slot with spring contacts — no locking tab required.
We bench tested this cell on a Dect 20 base station; BMS accepted voltage immediately without error lights.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Agfeo Dect 20 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (McNairF6M3EMX)

This is a 3.6V, 400mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Agfeo Dect 20 cordless DECT handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores wireless call and standby function when the original pack has degraded. Capacity is 400mAh (1.44Wh), matching the original specification.

  • Agfeo Dect 20 fitment: The Dect 20 handset uses a compact single-cell Ni-MH pack at 3.6V — the connector orientation and cell dimensions (49.60 x 33.62 x 6.70mm) match this unit directly. No modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Ni-MH test rig. The cell accepted a full charge without thermal runaway and held voltage within the expected window across five conditioning cycles.
  • First installation charge on Ni-MH: After fitting, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before using it. Ni-MH cells shipped in storage state need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step means noticeably shorter talk time from day one.

Range drops after battery swap on the Dect 20

DECT transmit power draws a sharp current spike each time the handset sends a radio burst. A Ni-MH cell that hasn't completed its conditioning cycles has higher internal resistance, which causes voltage to sag under that RF load. When voltage sags, the handset pulls back transmit power to stay within its operating range — and coverage shrinks. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and internal resistance falls, voltage holds steadier, and range returns to normal.

Base station not charging the new battery — error light stays on

Agfeo base stations check for a minimum voltage at the charging contacts before committing to a charge cycle. A Ni-MH cell that has sat in storage can drop below that threshold — typically under 3.0V — and the base reads it as a fault rather than a flat battery. To recover it, place the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for 30 minutes. The trickle circuit in the base will nudge voltage up enough for the main charge cycle to engage. If the error light clears and the charge indicator shows active, the pack is recovering normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Agfeo Dect 20 talk time is still short after fitting the new battery — is the battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state, and the first two or three cycles deliver noticeably less capacity than rated. Each full charge-discharge cycle conditions the cells and brings capacity closer to the 400mAh figure. Run at least three full cycles — charge until the base shows complete, then use the handset until it signals low battery — before drawing any conclusions.

The Dect 20 lost its base station pairing after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is fully removed, because the registration is held in volatile memory backed by the battery. The fix is to re-register the handset through the base station menu — on most Agfeo systems, press and hold the registration button on the base for around five seconds until the LED flashes, then initiate pairing from the handset. Consult the Dect 20 manual for the exact key sequence if the menu differs.

The Dect 20 handset is draining overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This points to a seating issue rather than a battery fault. If the handset isn't fully clicked into the charging cradle, the charging contacts don't make a clean connection and the handset runs on battery through the night. Check that the handset drops fully into the base with a firm seat, clean the gold contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, and confirm the charge indicator light activates when you place it down.
