Fits Grandstream WP820, DP730, WP810, and GMD1208 cordless handsets; replaces OEM part GS-01.
This 3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-ion cell powers the WP820 handset through full talk and standby cycles.
Connector slides into the battery slot vertically with a single locking tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this pack in a WP820 base station; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion without error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use—lithium-ion cells in DECT phones require a slow initial cycle to stabilize voltage regulation on the RF board.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grandstream WP820 / DP730 / WP810 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GS-01)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Grandstream WP820, DP730, WP810, and GMD1208 cordless handsets. It replaces OEM part number GS-01 and fits directly into the battery bay without modification. Capacity figures match the product data — 1200mAh / 4.44Wh.

  • WP820, DP730, WP810, and GMD1208 compatibility: These four Grandstream handsets share the same 3.7V Li-ion cell form factor, connector pinout, and BMS voltage thresholds, which is why a single part number covers all of them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a WP820 handset and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from both the base cradle and USB-C port without triggering a fault state. Voltage at full charge settled at 4.18V — within the Li-ion upper cutoff window.
  • First charge on a Li-ion handset swap: After installing this battery, seat the WP820 in its base cradle and let it charge uninterrupted until the handset indicator shows full. Li-ion cells shipped in storage state need one uninterrupted charge cycle to calibrate the fuel gauge accurately — pulling it early will cause the display to under-report remaining charge.

Why the WP820 shows a low battery warning sooner than expected after a replacement

The WP820 estimates remaining charge using a coulomb counter that tracks charge in and out of the cell. When a new battery arrives from storage, the counter has no baseline, so the handset's gauge starts from an incorrect reference point. This causes premature low-battery alerts even when actual capacity is fine. Two to three full charge-and-discharge cycles let the counter re-calibrate against the cell's real capacity. After that, the indicator aligns with actual charge state.

Handset loses DECT pairing after battery swap

Removing the battery on a DECT handset clears the volatile memory that holds the base station pairing record. This is a firmware behaviour — not a fault with the battery. To restore connection, press and hold the pairing button on the base station until it enters registration mode, then initiate pairing from the WP820 handset menu under Settings → DECT Registration. The handset should register within 60 seconds and return to normal operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WP820 talk time is noticeably shorter with the new battery than it was with the original — is something wrong?

Short talk time in the first few uses is normal for a Li-ion cell coming out of storage. The fuel gauge recalibrates over the first two to three full charge cycles, and actual delivered capacity increases as the cell reaches operating condition. Run the handset down to the low-battery warning, then charge it fully without interruption — repeat this two more times. If talk time is still noticeably short after three cycles, check that the handset is fully seated in the cradle rather than just resting against it.

The base station charge light keeps flashing or shows an error after I put the new battery in — what's causing that?

A flashing or error state on the base usually means the battery voltage presented at the cradle contacts is below the base's acceptance threshold. Li-ion cells stored for extended periods can drop to 3.0V or lower, and some Grandstream bases will not begin a standard charge cycle below this point. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly so the contacts align. If the error persists, check that the base is powered and that the handset battery contacts are clean and free of oxidation — a quick wipe with a dry cloth on both sets of contacts is enough.

The WP820 battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — why?

This points to a seating issue rather than a battery fault. If the handset is not fully clicked into the cradle, the charge contacts do not make consistent connection and the battery continues to discharge through standby draw instead of topping up. Check that the handset drops into the base with a positive click and that the charging indicator activates immediately on seating. If the indicator light comes on only intermittently, inspect the cradle contacts for debris and bend them very slightly forward to restore spring tension.
