NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and do not hit rated capacity on the first cycle. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator triggers, then return it to base for a full charge — repeat this three to five times. Rated capacity is typically reached by cycle four.

NiMH packs that have sat in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the Sagem base uses to confirm a valid battery is present. If the base shows an error light or refuses to initiate charging, the pack voltage is likely too low for the base acceptance circuit to recognise it. Remove the handset, hold the power button for five seconds to drain any residual charge, then reseat it firmly in the base. If the base still does not respond, check terminal voltage on the pack — it should read at least 3.0V before the base will accept it.
