Fits Sagem Colors Memo, 330, Colors View, and MCP387 cordless phone handsets replacing original 3.6V battery packs.
3.6V 400mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity across talk and standby cycles on DECT base stations.
Connector slides vertically into handset battery slot with single locking tab; no polarity reversal possible.
We bench-tested this cell on a Colors Memo base station — BMS acceptance occurred at first insertion, no fault light.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sagem Colors Memo / MCP387 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 3.6V 400mAh Ni-MH battery powers the Sagem Colors Memo, Colors View, 330, and MCP387 cordless handsets, along with six additional compatible models. It matches the original cell format at 49.60 x 33.62 x 6.70mm and slots directly into the handset battery bay. Voltage and capacity are identical to the factory specification.

  • Colors Memo and MCP387 platform compatibility: These Sagem handsets share a 3.6V NiMH voltage rail and the same physical cell footprint across the range. One battery pack covers the full cluster because the charging circuit and connector are common across these models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on NiMH-compatible test equipment. The BMS accepted charge without interruption, and cell voltage held stable across the full discharge curve with no premature cutoff.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need this slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it compresses the active capacity the cells deliver from the first cycle onward.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and do not hit rated capacity on the first cycle. The Sagem charging circuit tops cells off at roughly 4.2V for the pack, but a fresh cell needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the active material in the electrodes is fully conditioned. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator triggers, then return it to base for a full charge — repeat this three to five times. Rated capacity is typically reached by cycle four.

Base station showing no charge or error light after fitting a new pack

NiMH packs that have sat in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the Sagem base uses to confirm a valid battery is present. If the base shows an error light or refuses to initiate charging, the pack voltage is likely too low for the base acceptance circuit to recognise it. Remove the handset, hold the power button for five seconds to drain any residual charge, then reseat it firmly in the base. If the base still does not respond, check terminal voltage on the pack — it should read at least 3.0V before the base will accept it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sagem Colors Memo handset loses range when the battery is nearly flat — is this the battery or the handset?

It's the battery. NiMH cells sag in voltage under RF transmit load, and the DECT radio in the Colors Memo pulls harder than standby draw — when the pack is low, that sag is enough to reduce transmit power. The handset isn't faulty; it's compensating for insufficient voltage. Keep the pack above the low-battery threshold by returning the handset to base regularly, and the range issue goes away.

My Colors Memo lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts power completely to the handset, and some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully lost. Re-register the handset using the base station's registration button — on most Sagem bases, hold the registration button on the base until the indicator flashes, then follow the handset menu to locate and pair. The process takes under two minutes and is covered in the original handset manual under "Register Handset."

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins. If the handset sits slightly off-axis or the pins are oxidised, the base shows the handset as docked but delivers no charge current — the handset runs on battery in standby all night. Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset and confirm the charging indicator lights up within 30 seconds of docking.
