Fits AKG C50BT and Y50BT wireless headsets using original part number P083040-Q02.
3.7V and 1000mAh capacity restores full talk time on the C50BT after the original cell degrades.
Connector seats flat into the battery slot on the headset body with a single locking tab.
We bench-tested this cell on the C50BT docking base — BMS accepted handshake on first insertion and charged to full without fault codes.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for a full cycle before taking a call — DECT headsets require the base to log the new cell before the talk-time estimate is accurate.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AKG C50BT / Y50BT — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (P083040-Q02)

This 3.7V 1000mAh (3.7Wh) lithium-polymer cell replaces part number P083040-Q02 in the AKG C50BT and Y50BT Bluetooth headsets. Both models run the same internal cell at the same voltage rail with the same connector footprint. Dimensions are 41.50 × 30.00 × 7.80mm — measure your original before ordering if you are unsure.

  • C50BT and Y50BT shared platform: Both headsets use the same PCB layout, BMS handshake protocol, and connector pinout — which is why they share one cell. Swapping the battery does not require re-pairing the headset to your device; the Bluetooth profile sits in firmware, not the battery.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran P083040-Q02 replacements through charge-discharge cycles on the C50BT platform. The onboard BMS accepted the new cell without a protection-trip event, and charge termination fired correctly at full capacity.
  • First-cycle charging on the C50BT: Bring the headset to full charge via USB before the first call. The C50BT's talk-time counter reads the cell state logged during that initial charge cycle — skipping it causes the headset to underestimate remaining capacity for the first several uses.

Why the C50BT cuts out mid-call on a new battery

The C50BT draws simultaneously from the audio amplifier and Bluetooth radio during a call. That combined load can spike current demand sharply — more than idle playback alone. If the replacement cell's BMS has not yet logged a full cycle, it may interpret the spike as an overcurrent event and trip protection. Running two or three full charge-discharge cycles before extended calls lets the BMS calibrate its threshold correctly and stops false cutoffs.

Talk time shorter than rated on the first few charges

A new lithium-polymer cell does not deliver full rated capacity on day one. Electrolyte wetting across the electrode surface improves over the first three to five full cycles, and actual capacity rises with each one. If the headset seems to lose charge faster than expected in the first week of use, that is normal cell conditioning — not a fault. By the fifth full cycle, capacity should be at or very close to the rated 1000mAh.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AKG C50BT cuts out mid-call but works fine for music — what's causing it?

Calls pull from the Bluetooth radio and audio amp at the same time, which creates a higher current spike than music playback alone. If the BMS on the new cell hasn't completed a full conditioning cycle yet, it can trip on that spike and cut power. Run three full charge-to-empty cycles before using the headset for extended calls. After that, the BMS threshold calibrates and the cutouts stop.

The headset feels warm during long calls — is that a problem with the replacement cell?

Warmth during extended calls is expected on the C50BT. The combined radio and audio draw in a small housing generates heat, and lithium-polymer cells in compact form factors have limited thermal mass. It becomes a concern only if the housing is hot to the touch or the headset shuts off from heat protection. Mild warmth is normal — give the headset a 10-minute rest between sessions longer than 90 minutes.

My C50BT shows a full charge on the USB indicator, but the headset dies quickly after a short use — why?

This happens when a new cell arrives at storage voltage rather than full charge voltage. The headset's firmware reads the cell as "charged" based on a prior BMS state, but the actual charge level is low. Plug the headset in for a complete uninterrupted charge cycle — do not unplug early. After that first full cycle, the charge indicator and actual cell state will be in sync.
