Fits AKG C50BT and Y50BT wireless headsets; replaces OEM part P083040-Q02.
3.7V, 1000mAh Li-Polymer cell powers talk time and standby on this DECT platform.
Connector seats flat into the headset battery slot with a single locking tab.
We bench-tested the pack in the C50BT base station; BMS handshook on first insertion without fault codes.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for one full cycle before taking calls — DECT platforms need the base to log the new cell before talk-time estimates register.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AKG C50BT / Y50BT — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (P083040-Q02)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the AKG C50BT and Y50BT wireless Bluetooth headsets. It replaces OEM part number P083040-Q02 and fits directly into the original battery bay. Use this when the existing cell no longer holds a charge or talk time has dropped noticeably.

  • C50BT and Y50BT shared platform: Both models run on the same 3.7V cell with an identical footprint (42 × 30 × 7.80mm) and share the same BMS handshake protocol — one part number covers both headsets without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the C50BT platform. The BMS accepted the new pack without error, and protection circuits responded correctly to both end-of-charge and low-voltage cutoff thresholds.
  • First-cycle base station charge: Seat the headset in the AKG charge cradle and run a complete charge cycle before using it for calls. The base station logs the new cell's state during this cycle — skipping it can cause the talk-time indicator to read inaccurately for days.

Why the C50BT cuts out mid-call on a new battery

The C50BT draws from two loads simultaneously — the audio codec and the Bluetooth radio. On a freshly installed cell that hasn't completed its first full cycle, the BMS may interpret a combined-load voltage dip as a fault and trip the protection circuit. This looks identical to a dead battery but is a BMS state issue, not a capacity problem. Seat the headset in the base, let it charge fully to 4.2V, then retry — most cutout events resolve after that first complete cycle.

Base station showing a charging error after fitting the new pack

If the AKG base flashes an error or refuses to begin charging after a battery swap, the BMS handshake between the new cell and the cradle's charge controller hasn't completed. This typically happens when the replacement cell ships at storage voltage — around 3.6–3.7V — which some cradles flag before initiating a charge cycle. Remove the headset, wait ten seconds, reseat it firmly, and re-dock. If the error persists, hold the headset in the cradle contacts manually for thirty seconds to allow the handshake to initiate at low current.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AKG C50BT headset is warm during long calls — is that a problem with the new battery?

The C50BT housing is compact, and sustained Bluetooth radio plus audio draw in a small enclosure generates noticeable heat. A warm headset is normal under extended use — hot to the touch is not. If the battery surface exceeds a comfortable hand temperature, remove the headset for ten minutes and let it cool before continuing. This isn't a fault with the cell, but repeated sustained-heat cycles will shorten the new battery's lifespan faster than normal use.

The base station shows a full charge, but the headset cuts off after just a few minutes of use.

This happens when the new cell arrives at storage voltage and the base station reads it as full before a proper charge cycle completes. The cell voltage at storage is typically 3.6–3.7V — enough for the cradle indicator to show green, but well short of operational capacity. Drain the headset fully, then charge it uninterrupted in the base until the indicator confirms a complete cycle. After that first proper cycle, the cutoff issue resolves.

Talk time is noticeably short for the first few uses — did I get a faulty battery?

Li-Polymer cells ship partially charged and need several charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On the C50BT, expect the first two to three cycles to deliver shorter talk time than the cell is rated for — this is normal electrochemical behaviour, not a defect. Run three full cycles — charge completely in the base, use until the headset signals low battery, repeat. By cycle four or five, the cell will be operating at or near its 1000mAh rating.
