Replaces TLP038D7 and TLp038D1 batteries in Alcatel 3L 2020, 5029D, and 5028D smartphones.
This 3.85V, 3850mAh Li-Polymer cell matches OEM output and restores full charge capacity.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot; no locking tab or adhesive required.
We bench-tested the cell on a 3L 2020 frame; the BMS accepted the pack without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel 3L 2020 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLP038D7)

This is a 3850mAh Li-Polymer cell at 3.85V nominal, replacing OEM part TLP038D7 and TLp038D1. It fits the Alcatel 3L 2020, 5029D, and 5028D smartphones. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds adequate charge for daily use or fails to charge at all.

  • 3L 2020 / 5029D / 5028D compatibility: These three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one cell covers all three without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a 5029D unit, monitoring BMS handshake, charge acceptance, and cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit engaged correctly at both the low-voltage floor and high-voltage ceiling with no anomalies.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge calibration: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This allows the fuel gauge IC to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Alcatel 3L 2020 after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve data from the original, degraded cell. When the new cell's actual voltage drops under modem or display load, it hits a point the IC misreads as safe — then the voltage collapses faster than the IC expects. The phone cuts power before the reported percentage reaches zero. One complete discharge cycle from 100% down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge, forces the coulomb counter to re-baseline against the new cell. After that cycle, percentage readings and shutdown behaviour normalise.

USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

The charge IC negotiates fast-charge current based on cell impedance data logged during previous cycles. A new cell presents higher impedance on cycle one, and the IC defaults to standard 5V/1A input until it has a completed cycle to reference. Forcing a fast-charge session on an uncalibrated cell can also push current into a cell the BMS has not yet profiled. Complete one full standard-speed charge first — fast charging will activate automatically from cycle two onward once the charge IC accepts the new impedance profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Alcatel 3L 2020 keeps shutting off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC is still working from the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the voltage cliff on the new cell and trips the shutdown early. Run one full discharge — let the phone cut off on its own — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. That single cycle forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate, and the early-shutdown behaviour stops.

The battery percentage on my 5029D is jumping around erratically — it went from 60% to 41% in two minutes without heavy use.

Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge IC recalibration artefact, not a cell defect. The IC is interpolating charge state against a curve it built for the original cell, and the new cell's voltage-to-capacity relationship doesn't match that curve yet. We see this consistently on the first two cycles during bench testing. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles at standard charge speed and the readings stabilise — the IC overwrites the old curve with data from the new cell.

The phone feels warm near the back during charging after I replaced the battery — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles is expected. A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat while the cell's impedance settles. We measured surface temperatures in the normal operating range during bench testing on cycle one. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, stop the charge and check that the replacement cell dimensions match the original — a cell that is too thick creates pressure on the charge contacts and raises resistance.
