The OT-4060's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits the old cell's voltage cliff point, the IC triggers an emergency shutdown even though actual capacity remains. This is not a fault in the replacement cell — it is a calibration mismatch. Run one complete discharge down to auto-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% to force the IC to relearn the new curve. After that cycle, the reported percentage should track the actual cell state accurately.

Phone won't power on after the battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells in extended storage self-discharge below 2.5V per cell, which trips the BMS into a protective lockout state. The phone will not respond to the power button because the BMS blocks output until voltage recovers. Connect a known-working charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.9V. Once the phone shows any charge indicator, a normal charge cycle will bring it back to full operation.
