This is a 3.8V, 1750mAh (6.65Wh) Li-ion replacement cell for the TCL VZW-TCL-4056, Flip Pro, 4056L, and 4056W. It replaces OEM part TLi017C7 directly. When the original cell degrades and can no longer sustain voltage under screen or modem load, this cell restores normal operation.
- VZW-TCL-4056 / Flip Pro platform fit: The 4056L, 4056W, and Flip Pro variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pin-out, and BMS handshake requirements. One cell covers all four models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the TCL charge IC and confirmed BMS communication, charge termination at 4.35V, and protection cutoff response at the low-voltage threshold. The fuel gauge IC accepted the cell and began tracking state-of-charge within the first full cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. The TCL fuel gauge IC calibrates its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve. Skipping this step causes the OS to display inaccurate percentages for several days.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the TCL Flip Pro after a cell swap
A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the worn original. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old curve, so it misjudges remaining capacity. When the modem or display draws a brief high-current spike, the cell voltage dips below the BMS protection threshold even though the OS shows 20–30% remaining. The phone cuts out as a hard protection event, not a normal shutdown. One full discharge and charge cycle at standard rate — no fast charging — lets the coulomb counter remap to the new cell and eliminates the false cutoff.
Phone warm near the battery compartment on the first few charges
A fresh Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC pushes current into that resistance, and the difference is shed as heat. This is normal for the first three to five charge cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If the phone stays warm beyond five cycles or the heat concentrates at the USB port rather than the battery area, check that the charge cable is not forcing a high-current fast-charge profile into an uncalibrated cell — switch to a standard 5V/1A charger until the cell is fully broken in.

My TCL Flip Pro shows the battery percentage jumping around erratically after I put in the new TLi017C7 — is the replacement cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the 4056 platform uses a coulomb counter calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a different curve, so the IC misreads state-of-charge until it recalibrates. Run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge fully at standard rate with fast charging disabled. The percentage stabilises after that first full cycle.
The phone won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation — what's happening?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the TLi017C7 dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS entered lockout mode to prevent damage. The phone will not respond to a standard power-on attempt in this state. Connect it to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes.
Fast charging stopped working on my VZW-TCL-4056 after I installed the replacement battery — it only charges slowly now.
On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the TCL charge IC runs a verification handshake with the BMS before enabling the high-current fast-charge path. If the fuel gauge IC has not yet completed its initial calibration pass, the system defaults to a reduced current rate as a precaution. Complete one full standard-rate charge cycle first. Fast charging re-enables automatically on subsequent cycles once the BMS handshake passes the calibration check.
