Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel OT-8085 / One Touch Plus 10" — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (TLp058AC)
This is a 3.85V, 5700mAh (21.95Wh) Li-Polymer cell that replaces the TLp058AC battery in the Alcatel OT-8085 and One Touch Plus 10" tablets. It fits the original battery bay and connects to the existing charge controller without modification. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to get through a normal session.
- OT-8085 and One Touch Plus 10" compatibility: Both models share the same 3.85V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that's why a single TLp058AC cell serves both. The charge IC on each tablet reads cell voltage and temperature data from the same register set, so no firmware adjustment is needed after installation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the OT-8085 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, balanced charge termination triggered correctly at 4.35V, and discharge cutoff engaged at the expected low-voltage threshold.
- Fuel gauge reset after swap: After installing this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the fuel gauge IC to recalibrate against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that typically appear in the first few cycles after a swap.
Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement
This happens when the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. The tablet acts on that stale data and cuts power before the new cell is actually depleted. The shutdown typically happens under combined load — display at full brightness plus active Wi-Fi — because that load spike causes a voltage dip that crosses the old cutoff threshold. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the calibration, and the shutdowns stop.
Fast charging not available after fitting a new TLp058AC cell
The One Touch Plus 10" uses a USB-PD negotiation sequence to enable fast charge mode — and that negotiation resets after a battery swap. Until the charge IC completes one full accepted charge cycle with the new cell, it defaults to standard 5V charging. Plug in the original charger and let it run from low battery to 100% without interruption. After that first complete cycle, fast charge negotiation resumes at the correct voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alcatel OT-8085 is showing the wrong battery percentage after I replaced the battery — it jumped from 40% to dead without warning. What's causing this?
The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's capacity curve, not the new one. It's still using that stale data to estimate charge level, which causes jumps and early shutoff signals. Run the tablet down until it shuts off automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with the screen on to let the IC map the new cell. That single full cycle resets the calibration and the percentage display stabilises.
The tablet feels warm near the charging port while the new TLp058AC cell is charging — is something wrong?
Warmth at the charge IC location is normal during the first several charge cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell. The charge controller runs an initialisation profile on a new cell — it probes cell resistance and adjusts current stepping — which generates slightly more heat than steady-state charging on a broken-in battery. Surface temperature at the back of the tablet should stay below 40°C. If it's hot to the touch or the tablet displays a thermal warning, disconnect and check that the replacement cell connector is seated fully and flat against the board.
The battery percentage is dropping faster than expected from 100% on my One Touch Plus 10" — it used to last much longer with the old battery even when it was new. What should I check?
A new cell out of the box hasn't been conditioned, so the fuel gauge and charge IC are working from default estimates rather than measured data for this specific cell. Capacity readings are often pessimistic for the first two to three cycles. Complete two full discharge-to-shutoff and uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycles before drawing any conclusions about real-world capacity. If the drain rate is still unusually fast after three full cycles, check that background sync and display brightness settings weren't changed during the reassembly process, as both significantly affect draw on this platform.
