Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel OT-997 / One Touch 997 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CAB32E0000C1)
This 3.7V Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Alcatel OT-997, OT-997D, One Touch 997, and One Touch 997D smartphones. Capacity is 1950mAh (7.22Wh), matching the factory specification. It also cross-references OEM part numbers CAB32E0002C1, TLiB32E, CAB32E0000C2, and TLiB5AF.
- OT-997 and 997D platform compatibility: Both the single-SIM OT-997 and dual-SIM OT-997D use the same battery bay dimensions (57.10 × 50.98 × 5.90mm), the same 3.7V nominal rail, and the same connector pinout — one cell covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on OT-997 hardware. The BMS accepted charge handshake on first insertion and held voltage above the modem-load cutoff threshold throughout the discharge curve.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, run one complete discharge to shutdown and then a full charge before enabling any power-saving shortcuts — this gives the fuel gauge IC a clean discharge curve reference for the new cell, so percentage readings stay accurate from the start.
Why the OT-997 shuts down suddenly at 20–30% with a new cell
The OT-997's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. A new cell with different internal impedance hits a voltage cliff under modem or display load that the old curve did not predict. The phone's under-voltage protection trips before the reported percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a complete charge resets the coulomb counter and trains the gauge to the new cell's actual curve.
OT-997 showing wrong battery percentage after cell swap
Percentage errors after a battery swap come from the fuel gauge IC still referencing the degraded capacity profile of the old cell. The counter was calibrated against hundreds of cycles on a worn cell — it does not reset automatically when a new cell is installed. The fix is straightforward: let the phone discharge fully until it powers off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single cycle, the gauge recalibrates its zero and full-charge reference points against the 1950mAh cell curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
My OT-997 powers on fine but shuts off without warning when I'm on a call or the screen brightness is high — is the new battery faulty?
This is a voltage-sag issue, not a faulty cell. The modem transmitter and backlight together draw a current spike that pulls the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold, and the phone interprets that as a dead battery. It happens most on a freshly installed cell before the fuel gauge IC has a calibrated discharge curve. Run one full discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption — after that cycle the shutdowns stop.
The phone feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges after fitting the replacement — should I be concerned?
Warmth on the first two or three charges is normal with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a cell that has been cycled, so the charge IC dissipates more heat as it pushes current in. Temperature should drop noticeably by the third full charge cycle. If the phone is still hot to the touch after five cycles, check that the battery contacts are fully seated — a partial connection increases resistance further.
My OT-997 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat unused in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Extended storage at low state-of-charge can drop the cell below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. The phone will show nothing — no boot screen, no charging indicator — until the cell recovers above the BMS reactivation threshold. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing any buttons. Once the cell voltage climbs above roughly 2.8V, the BMS releases and the charging indicator will appear.
