Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BASE Lutea 3 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 1950mAh Li-ion cell is a direct replacement for the BASE Lutea 3 (also sold as the Lutea III). It fits the original battery bay without modification and connects to the phone's power management IC through the same flex connector. Capacity is 1950mAh — use that figure when comparing against your worn original.
- Lutea 3 and Lutea III compatibility: Both names refer to the same hardware platform. The battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake voltage are identical across the two marketed variants — one replacement cell covers both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge under the Lutea 3's power management IC. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC stepped through CC/CV stages cleanly on repeated cycles.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Lutea 3 after a cell swap
The Lutea 3's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell — not the replacement. When the new cell's voltage drops steeply under modem or screen load, the IC hasn't yet mapped that curve and misreads remaining charge. The phone's low-voltage protection trips before the percentage display catches up, causing an abrupt shutdown that looks like a dead battery. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging lets the coulomb counter reset against the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% typically stop.
BASE Lutea 3 won't power on after sitting in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the Lutea 3 sat unused for several months — before or after the battery swap — the cell voltage may have dropped below the BMS lockout threshold of approximately 2.5V. At that point the BMS disconnects the cell to prevent damage, and the phone shows no response to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger rather than a PC port and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on — a wall charger delivers enough current to nudge the BMS out of lockout. If the charge LED does not activate within that window, try a second charger to rule out the cable before concluding the cell is unrecoverable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my BASE Lutea 3 show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new cell?
The fuel gauge IC on the Lutea 3 stores a discharge model built from hundreds of cycles on the original cell. A new cell has a different internal resistance and discharge curve, so the IC's stored model is immediately out of sync. This causes percentage readings that jump, stall, or read high while the phone still shuts down early. Run one full discharge — down to automatic shutdown — followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% without fast charging enabled, and the coulomb counter will rebuild its model against the new cell's actual behaviour.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on the Lutea 3 — what's happening?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs re-enter a cautious trickle-and-test sequence before accepting high-current charge protocols. The Lutea 3's charge IC checks cell impedance at the start of each session — a brand-new cell reads higher impedance than a broken-in one, and the IC may default to standard charge rates until it has logged a full cycle. Complete one full standard charge without interruption. Fast charging typically resumes on the second or third cycle once the IC has confirmed stable impedance readings.
The Lutea 3 feels warm near the battery while charging after the replacement — is that a fault?
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a cell that has been cycled 50–100 times. During the first few charge sessions, the charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, and more energy is lost as heat than usual. This is normal for the first two to five cycles and not a sign of a faulty cell or charger. Warmth — not heat you cannot hold your hand against — is expected. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge IC throws an error (shown as a fault on the charge LED or a warning in the battery settings), stop charging and check the connector seating before continuing.
