Fits Alinco DJ-S45T and DJ-S45TE handheld radios; replaces OEM battery EBP-60.
3.7V Li-ion at 700mAh delivers steady voltage for sustained two-way transmission without mid-shift sag.
Connector slides straight into the radio's vertical battery slot with a push-tab locking mechanism.
We bench-tested this cell in a DJ-S45T on continuous PTT cycles; BMS held flat voltage curve under RF load.
On first insertion into the charger dock, if the LED shows fault, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating — the Alinco platform requires clean metal-to-metal contact to accept the new BMS handshake.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alinco DJ-S45T Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EBP-60)

This is a 3.7V Li-ion replacement battery for the Alinco DJ-S45T handheld two-way radio and its variants, including the DJ-S45TE, DJ-S45TCQL, and DJ-S45TCQS. It carries the OEM part number EBP-60 and a capacity of 700mAh (2.59Wh). The pack slots directly into the same battery bay as the original and uses the same contact layout.

  • DJ-S45T series compatibility: The DJ-S45T variants — TE, TCQL, TCQS and others in the line — all share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and identical connector footprint. The BMS handshake protocol is the same across the series, so one pack covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the DJ-S45T charge and transmit cycle. The BMS accepted the charger dock handshake on first insertion, held voltage within spec across repeated PTT events, and triggered overcurrent protection cleanly when we forced a load spike above threshold.
  • First insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The EBP-60 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins — this is not a faulty cell.

Why the DJ-S45T cuts out mid-transmission on a new EBP-60

The DJ-S45T draws a sharp current spike the moment PTT is pressed — RF output demands significantly more current than standby mode. If the replacement pack ships at storage voltage (typically around 3.6–3.7V), the BMS can interpret the transmit surge as an overcurrent event and trip the protection circuit. This is a BMS response to low initial cell charge, not a defective pack. Run one full charge cycle before transmitting, and the cutout behaviour stops.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting the EBP-60

The DJ-S45T uses voltage-threshold bar indicators — each bar corresponds to a fixed voltage band, not a fuel gauge chip. A new cell delivered at storage voltage sits near the lower threshold, so the radio correctly reads one bar until charge rises. This is not a capacity fault. Fully charge the pack first, then check the indicator — it should read at the top threshold band once the cell reaches 4.1–4.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DJ-S45T drops to low TX power mid-shift even though the battery looks charged — what's happening?

Sustained RF output pulls continuous current that causes voltage to sag across the cell under load. When the voltage drops below the radio's TX power threshold — even briefly — the DJ-S45T steps down output to protect the circuit. This is not the same as a BMS trip; the radio stays on but transmits at reduced power. Check resting voltage after a full charge: it should sit at 4.1V or above before the shift starts.

The EBP-60 has been sitting unused in a drawer for months and now the charger dock won't accept it — is it recoverable?

Extended storage drains a Li-ion cell below the BMS recovery threshold, typically under 2.5V. At that point the protection circuit locks the pack out and the dock sees no valid voltage to begin charging. Some chargers with a trickle-recovery mode can bring the cell back — apply a low-current charge at around 0.1C and monitor voltage rise over 30 minutes. If the cell climbs past 2.8V, the BMS will re-initialise and normal charging resumes.

The charger dock LED never clears to green after fitting the new EBP-60 — pack has been in there for hours.

A dock that stays on fault or charge-amber indefinitely usually means the cell arrived below the dock's acceptance voltage floor. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, and reseat. If the LED still does not shift after a second insertion, check that the cell voltage at the contacts reads at least 3.0V with a multimeter — below that, the dock's charge controller will not initiate.
