Fits Alinco DJ-S41, PMR446, and DJ-SR1 portables; replaces OEM part EBP-25N.
3.6V Ni-MH cells hold 700mAh; expect runtime matching original pack on same duty cycle.
Connector slides straight in; no locking tab — pack sits flush against radio body.
We cycled this cell on a DJ-S41 bench unit; BMS accepted charge without fault LED.
On first insertion into the charger dock, wipe the battery gold contacts with a dry cloth and reseat firmly — Alinco Ni-MH platforms need clean contact to begin charging cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alinco DJ-S41 / PMR446 / DJ-SR1 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (EBP-25N)

This is a 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH replacement for the Alinco EBP-25N battery pack. It fits the DJ-S41, PMR446, and DJ-SR1 handheld transceivers. Slot it into the existing battery bay — the housing matches the OEM footprint at 45.25 × 31.29 × 11.00mm.

  • DJ-S41 / PMR446 / DJ-SR1 platform fit: All three models share the same 3.6V battery bay, connector pinout, and contact strip layout. One pack covers the entire group without adapters or modifications.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit and receive loads on the DJ-S41. The BMS handled the PTT current spike cleanly and did not trip on a standard voice transmission burst.
  • First charge on Ni-MH after swap: Ni-MH cells ship at partial charge — do not treat a low bar reading as a fault. Place the pack in the Alinco dock immediately after installation and run a full charge cycle before the first transmission. The dock needs a complete charge pass to calibrate its termination cutoff to the new cells.

Why the DJ-S41 cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly inserted EBP-25N

Ni-MH cells at storage voltage sit around 1.1–1.15V per cell. Under PTT load, that drops fast enough for the radio's low-voltage cutoff circuit to interrupt TX before the transmission ends. This is not a faulty pack — it is an under-charged pack. A full dock charge brings each cell to roughly 1.4V at termination, which gives the voltage headroom the radio needs to sustain transmit current without dropping out.

Bar indicator stuck on one bar after fitting a new EBP-25N

The DJ-S41 reads battery level by sampling terminal voltage against fixed thresholds. A new Ni-MH pack at storage charge sits below the threshold for the second bar, so the indicator shows one bar even though the cell is not depleted. This is a voltage state issue, not a capacity issue. Put the pack on charge in the Alinco dock until the charge LED goes green, then power the radio on — the bar indicator should move to full at or above 3.6V resting voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DJ-S41 transmits fine for the first few seconds then cuts out — is the new EBP-25N faulty?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH cells at storage voltage sag hard under PTT load, and the DJ-S41's low-voltage cutoff trips before the transmission completes. Charge the pack fully in the Alinco dock first — the cutoff circuit needs terminal voltage above roughly 3.6V to sustain TX current. Test again after a complete charge cycle before concluding the pack is bad.

The charger dock blinks a fault pattern when I insert the new EBP-25N — what's happening?

The dock samples terminal voltage on insertion to confirm the pack is within its acceptance window. A new Ni-MH pack at storage charge can sit just below that threshold, triggering the fault blink. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly so the dock gets a clean voltage reading. If the fault clears and charging begins, let it run to full termination before use.

After a full charge the DJ-S41 still drops to noticeably weaker audio on receive after extended use — what causes that?

Ni-MH voltage curves slope gradually through discharge, and the DJ-S41's audio output circuit is sensitive to supply voltage as the pack drains toward the lower end of its range. This is normal cell chemistry behaviour, not a pack defect. If the drop feels premature compared to a previous EBP-25N, check that the dock is reaching full charge termination — a dock that cuts off early due to dirty contacts will send the radio out with less than full charge. Confirm resting voltage reads 3.6V or above before starting a shift.
