Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alltel AS855 Ignite — 3.7V Li-ion 1500mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 1500mAh (5.55Wh) for the Alltel AS855 Ignite smartphone. It replaces the original battery when the cell no longer holds a charge or fails to power the device through normal use. Physical dimensions are 64.50 × 44.40 × 4.50mm — confirm these match your existing cell before fitting.

  • AS855 and Ignite fitment: Both the AS855 and Ignite share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout, which is why a single cell covers both models. Voltage rail and contact orientation are identical across the two variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the AS855 platform and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. Charge acceptance was stable from the first cycle, and the protection circuit tripped as expected at both overcharge and over-discharge thresholds.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. The AS855 fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve — letting it map the new cell's curve before high-current charging prevents erratic percentage readings from the start.

Why the AS855 Ignite reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The AS855 uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks capacity by measuring coulombs against a stored discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry and impedance. The gauge reads against the old reference, so it can show 40% when the cell is closer to 20%, or jump unexpectedly during use. One complete discharge down to auto-shutoff followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and lets the IC build a new reference curve for the replacement cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. When the modem transmits or the screen peaks in brightness, current draw spikes and cell voltage drops sharply. If the fuel gauge IC still holds an inaccurate state-of-charge estimate from the old cell, the phone has no warning before the cell voltage crosses the shutdown threshold. The fix is the same full recalibration cycle — discharge to auto-shutoff, charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate. After one clean cycle, the gauge's low-battery warning triggers at the correct voltage, typically around 3.5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The AS855 Ignite won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

Most likely the cell discharged below the BMS lockout threshold, which on Li-ion cells is around 2.5V per cell. When voltage drops that low, the protection circuit opens and blocks current flow entirely — the phone behaves as if there's no battery fitted. Plug in the original charger and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on; the charge IC on the phone's board can often recover a deeply discharged cell once trickle current begins. If the charging indicator appears, let it reach at least 3.0V before booting.

Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the new battery — the phone charges, but only slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the phone's charge controller can fall back to standard charging rates because the new BMS hasn't yet confirmed its parameters to the USB-PD or proprietary charge negotiation stack. This is normal behaviour, not a fault. Run one full charge to 100% at the slow rate, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — fast charge handshake typically resumes on the second cycle once the BMS has completed its initialisation sequence.

The AS855 Ignite battery percentage keeps jumping around — it showed 65%, dropped to 41%, then climbed back to 58% within a few minutes.

Erratic percentage jumping means the fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it mapped for the old, degraded cell. The new cell has different internal impedance, so the coulomb counter's estimates drift badly under varying load. This is not a hardware fault with the replacement cell. Drain the phone until it shuts itself off, then charge it continuously to 100% without interruption — one complete cycle corrects the reference curve and the readings stabilise.
