Fits MetroPCS LGMS840V smartphone; replaces OEM battery LGMS840V.
3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-ion cell sustains call and messaging loads without mid-cycle shutdowns.
Connector slides straight into the phone's battery slot with standard Li-ion contact orientation.
We bench-tested this cell on a MetroPCS LGMS840V unit; BMS accepted charge without fault codes.
On first use after installation, run one full discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC to the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MetroPCS LGMS840V — 3.7V Li-ion 1500mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V lithium-ion cell rated at 1500mAh (5.55Wh) for the MetroPCS LGMS840V smartphone. It slots into the rear compartment and connects to the same charging and fuel gauge circuitry as the original. If your LGMS840V shuts down unexpectedly or no longer holds a charge, this cell replaces the degraded original.

  • LGMS840V fit: The LGMS840V uses a fixed connector pinout that carries both charge current and fuel gauge data on the same flex contact. This cell matches that pinout, so the charging IC and the fuel gauge IC both initialise correctly on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a LGMS840V-class board, confirmed BMS handshake, and verified the protection circuit trips at the correct over-voltage threshold before the cell ships.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge reset: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated against the discharge curve of the old cell. One slow cycle lets it recalibrate against this new cell before high-current charging begins.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still references the voltage-to-capacity curve of the old, degraded cell. A fresh cell has a steeper voltage cliff near the bottom of its curve. The phone's software reads 25% but the actual cell voltage has already dropped below what the modem and display can sustain under load. Run one full discharge until automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — after that cycle the gauge recalibrates and the premature shutoffs stop.

Phone warm near the battery compartment during first charges

A new cell arrives from storage at a higher internal impedance than a conditioned cell. The charging IC pushes current into that impedance, and the resistance converts some energy to heat during the first few cycles. This is normal and the warmth reduces as impedance drops across two or three full charge cycles. If the phone stays hot after three cycles, check that the rear cover is seated flat — a lifted cover traps heat against the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LGMS840V shuts off at around 25% after putting in the new battery — why?

The fuel gauge IC on the LGMS840V is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old cell, not the new one. A fresh cell holds voltage well until it drops sharply near the bottom, which the uncalibrated gauge misreads as a safe 25%. Let the phone discharge completely until it powers itself off, then charge it to 100% in one uninterrupted session — the coulomb counter resets against the new curve and the early shutdowns stop.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I charged after swapping the battery — is something broken?

Nothing is broken. The charging IC on the LGMS840V re-negotiates the charge protocol on the first cycle with a new cell, and some firmware versions default to standard charge current until the BMS confirms cell health data. Unplug, wait 30 seconds, and reconnect the charger. If fast charge still does not kick in, complete one full standard charge cycle first — the IC accepts the higher current rate once it has a full set of BMS readings from the new cell.

The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, then suddenly 45%, then back to 55%.

Erratic percentage readings after a cell swap are a fuel gauge IC calibration issue, not a faulty battery. The stored charge-curve data on the phone no longer matches the new cell, so the coulomb counter is guessing between reference points. Run two consecutive full cycles — discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption each time. After the second cycle the gauge has enough real data to track the new cell accurately and the jumping stops.
