Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AMP AMP9000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (IS588)

This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the AMP AMP9000 payment terminal. It replaces OEM part IS588 and restores power to terminals that have become unreliable due to a degraded original cell. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.

  • AMP9000 platform fit: The AMP9000 uses a dedicated battery bay with a connector and BMS handshake tied to the IS588 specification. This replacement matches the voltage rail and physical dimensions (66.20 × 21.70 × 18.60mm) the terminal expects, so the charge IC recognises the cell and completes initialisation normally.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the AMP9000 boot sequence and a simulated transaction load — display on, wireless active, receipt printer firing. The BMS held without triggering an overcurrent cutoff across repeated print cycles.
  • First-use calibration tip: Complete one full transaction cycle after installation before deploying the terminal in a live environment. The AMP9000 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to report the charge indicator accurately on screen.

Why the AMP9000 reboots mid-transaction after a battery swap

The receipt printer motor draws a sharp current spike the moment it fires — on a new cell, the BMS can interpret this as an overcurrent event and cut power to protect the cell. This is more common in the first few cycles before the BMS has profiled the cell's internal resistance. Running several test transactions off a live environment allows the BMS to register the printer's load signature and stop tripping. If reboots continue past five cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated.

AMP9000 not powering on after sitting unused in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the terminal has sat unused for several months with a depleted battery inside, the cell voltage may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 2.5V — and the terminal will not respond to the power button. Connect the terminal to a working charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. Most BMS circuits include a trickle-charge recovery mode that brings the cell back above the 3.0V threshold needed to boot.

Frequently Asked Questions

The AMP9000 charge indicator is stuck at 99% and won't move — is the battery actually charging?

Yes, this is normal on a new cell. The charge IC enters a top-off mode when the cell is close to full, delivering a lower current to finish the last fraction of capacity. The indicator can sit at 99% for an extended period before flipping to 100%. No action is needed — once you run a transaction cycle, the terminal recalibrates the charge display and it will read accurately from that point.

The AMP9000 gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is that a battery fault?

Not typically. During heavy use the terminal is running the display, maintaining a wireless connection, and firing the printer motor simultaneously. That combined draw generates heat across the battery and the main board together. If the terminal is warm but completing transactions normally, the battery is functioning within spec. If it shuts down due to heat, move to a cooler environment and avoid stacking the terminal face-down on insulating surfaces.

The AMP9000 won't complete its PCI boot sequence after I installed the new battery — it stalls at the startup screen.

The PCI boot sequence on the AMP9000 performs a battery handshake as part of its security checks. On a fresh cell, the BMS may not have completed its initialisation cycle yet, which can cause the terminal to stall. Connect the terminal to the charger, let it sit for 10 minutes, then attempt a cold boot by holding the power button for 10 seconds. This gives the BMS time to register the cell and present the handshake data the boot sequence expects.
