Fits iPhone XR models A2105, A2106, A2108 and replaces OEM battery part 616-00471.
Delivers 3.8V at 2900mAh capacity—matches the original cell energy output for full day runtime on standard use.
Connector seats flush into the iPhone XR battery slot with no locking tabs; orientation marked on the pack itself.
We cycled this cell through three full charge-discharge passes on an iPhone XR; the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without voltage errors.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle—this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple iPhone XR — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (616-00471)

This 3.8V, 2900mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Apple iPhone XR, including variants A2105, A2106, and A2108. It fits the same footprint as the OEM unit at 101.34 × 44.32 × 4.16mm and connects to the same flex cable and BMS on the logic board. Install it when the original cell can no longer hold charge through a full day of use.

  • iPhone XR A-series variant coverage: The A2105, A2106, and A2108 share an identical battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all three regional variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an iPhone XR logic board. The BMS accepted the cell, reported voltage correctly to iOS, and held the charge IC in CC/CV mode without tripping overcurrent protection.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Why the iPhone XR reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The iPhone XR uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that tracks charge by measuring current in and out over time. When you install a new cell, the IC still holds the discharge curve it built around the old, degraded cell. It cannot know the new cell's actual capacity until it maps a full cycle. Until that calibration happens, iOS will show percentage figures that do not match real remaining charge — often reading 30% while the phone still has significant capacity left, or dropping suddenly near the end.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell and the phone hits a high-current load spike — typically the modem during a call or the display at full brightness. The new cell can sustain the load, but the IC reads voltage against the wrong curve and triggers a low-voltage shutdown before the cell is actually exhausted. Run one full discharge down to automatic power-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the coulomb counter resets its reference and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The iPhone XR won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?

When a Li-Polymer cell drops below roughly 2.5V from extended storage, the BMS locks out charging to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a low-current 5W charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes without pressing any buttons. If the cell is still above the hard cutoff floor, the BMS will slowly accept a trickle and the Apple logo will appear. If there is no response after an hour, check that the flex cable connector is fully seated on the logic board.

Fast charging stopped working after I put in the replacement battery — the phone only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the iPhone XR's charge IC sometimes falls back to standard 5W charging while it verifies the new cell's internal resistance and BMS handshake. This is normal behaviour. Complete one full charge at the slower rate, then disconnect and let the phone discharge to around 20% before reconnecting your USB-PD adapter. Most units accept fast charge on the second cycle once the IC has a resistance baseline for the new cell.

The battery percentage jumps erratically — goes from 45% straight to 12% then back up.

Erratic percentage jumps are the fuel gauge IC switching between two incomplete discharge-curve estimates — one from the old cell, one partially built on the new cell. The IC cannot interpolate accurately until it has one clean full cycle logged. Drain the phone until it shuts itself off automatically, charge to 100% in a single uninterrupted session, then check that battery health reads correctly under Settings → Battery → Battery Health. After that reference cycle, the gauge stabilises.
