Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple iPhone Xs — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (616-00514)

This is a 3.8V, 2950mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Apple iPhone Xs, covering models A1920, A2097, and related variants. It replaces the original cell when the phone no longer holds charge through a normal day or shuts down unexpectedly. Capacity matches OEM spec at 11.21Wh.

  • iPhone Xs and A-series variants: The A1920 and A2097 share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all listed variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an iPhone Xs logic board. The BMS accepted the cell, charge IC engaged correctly, and the fuel gauge IC registered capacity without fault codes.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from the degraded original cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC associates with 20–30%, it signals a low-voltage cutoff even though capacity remains. The fix is one full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% with the phone off or in airplane mode. After that cycle, the coulomb counter resets against the new cell's actual curve.

USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after swap

On the first charge after installation, the charge IC may fall back to standard 5W input instead of negotiating USB-PD. This is normal — the BMS on a new cell applies a conditioning current on the first cycle before it clears for high-rate charging. Plug in, let the phone charge fully without interruption, and fast charge will negotiate correctly from the second cycle onward. If it still does not fast charge after two full cycles, check that the cable supports USB-PD at 9V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iPhone Xs shuts off at around 25% and jumps back to 18% when I restart it — is the new battery faulty?

The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC calibrated itself to your old degraded cell and is reading the new one incorrectly. Run one full discharge — let the phone die completely — then charge it to 100% in a single uninterrupted session with fast charging disabled. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell's discharge curve and the percentage readings stabilise.

The phone feels warm near the back during the first few charges after fitting the replacement battery — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth on the first two or three charge cycles is expected. A new high-impedance cell draws slightly more reactive power from the charge IC as it conditions, generating low-level heat. If the phone stays warm to the touch beyond the third full charge cycle, check that the charger output does not exceed 20W, as the Xs charge IC does not support higher rates and will run inefficiently against them.

The replacement battery arrived and the phone will not power on at all — the screen stays black even on charge.

A cell that has sat in storage can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout and prevents the phone from booting or showing a charge indicator. Plug the phone into a 5W charger and leave it undisturbed for 45–60 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold of approximately 3.0V, after which the Apple logo should appear on its own.
