Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cingular Flip IV / U102AA — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TL14H504357W)
This is a 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-ion cell for the Cingular Flip IV and U102AA mobile phones. It replaces OEM part TL14H504357W and restores power to devices where the original cell has degraded or lost the ability to hold a charge. Dimensions are 57.50 × 43.00 × 4.80mm — confirm against your existing cell before installing.
- Flip IV and U102AA compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits both. The fuel gauge IC on each device reads the same charge curve, so no firmware difference affects this swap.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge-charge sequence and monitored BMS cutoff behaviour at the low-voltage threshold. The protection circuit triggered correctly at the expected floor, and charge acceptance held steady across the full 1300mAh rated capacity.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell — preventing early percentage jumps or premature cutoffs.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Cingular Flip IV after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. When the modem transmits or the screen draws peak current, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the IC expects — it reads 25% but the cell voltage is already at the protection floor. The BMS trips and the phone cuts off. One full discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled forces the coulomb counter to relearn the new cell's actual capacity, and the shutdowns stop.
Phone feels warm near the battery during the first charge after replacement
A new cell starts with higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. During CC-phase charging, the charge IC pushes current into that higher resistance, and the extra energy dissipates as heat. This is normal for the first one or two cycles and reduces as impedance drops. If the phone stays warm past two full charge cycles, check that the charge IC is not stuck in a fast-charge mode — dropping to a standard 5V/1A charger for the break-in cycles keeps temperatures in range.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Cingular Flip IV shuts off at around 25% battery — why does this happen with a new cell?
The fuel gauge IC is still reading the old cell's discharge curve. Under peak load — modem transmit bursts or screen refresh — the new cell's voltage sags faster than the IC anticipates, so the BMS hits its cutoff floor while the display still shows 25%. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charging off. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell and the early shutdowns clear.
The battery percentage on my Flip IV jumps around erratically after I installed the replacement — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge model for the original battery, and a new cell with a slightly different discharge curve causes the IC to report inconsistent state-of-charge readings until it resets. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles — no top-up charges, no fast charging — and the IC will rebuild its model against the new cell. Percentage readings stabilise after the second full cycle.
The Flip IV won't power on at all after sitting with the new battery installed for a few weeks — what happened?
If the phone sat in storage long enough for the cell to discharge below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage to the lithium cells. The phone will not respond to the power button. Connect it to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for at least 20 minutes without touching it. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell to bring voltage above the BMS recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the phone powers on.
