Fits Aputure AMARAN AL-528C, AL-528S, AL-528W, and AL-F7 CRI 95+ LED lights with 7.4V lithium-ion chemistry.
7.4V 2000mAh capacity delivers 14.8Wh — sufficient for one full shoot cycle on compact on-camera panels without mid-production swaps.
Connector slides straight into the Aputure battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush against the light housing.
We bench-tested this cell at 7.4V nominal with the Aputure BMS — no cutoff errors on first charge, stable voltage curve through discharge cycles.
On first install, charge fully within the light itself before shooting — Aputure's firmware maps battery percentage to this specific 2000mAh discharge curve during the initial charge cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Aputure AMARAN AL-528C / AL-528S / AL-528W / AL-F7 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V 2000mAh (14.8Wh) lithium-ion battery fits the Aputure AMARAN AL-528C, AL-528S, AL-528W, and AL-F7 CRI 95+ LED light panels. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original and runs the panel at full output. Capacity figures come from the product specification, not inflated marketing claims.

  • AL-528 and AL-F7 platform fit: The 528C, 528S, 528W, and AL-F7 share the same battery form factor, connector pin layout, and 7.4V input rail. One battery type covers all four panels — there is no electrical difference at the battery interface between them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the AL-528 platform. The BMS held voltage within spec across the discharge curve and tripped the low-voltage cutoff cleanly before the cell could be damaged.
  • LED panel draw tip: The AL-528C pulls more current at full brightness with colour mixing active than in single-channel white mode. If you run colour LEDs at 100%, expect heavier draw than the rated 14.8Wh suggests at lower brightness settings — dial brightness to match shoot length.

Why the AL-528C flickers or cuts out on a new battery

The AL-528C does not have a sophisticated BMS authentication handshake the way camera bodies do, but it does respond to voltage sag under high current draw. A cell with elevated internal resistance — whether aged or counterfeit — will sag below the panel's minimum operating voltage during a full-brightness burst. That sag reads as a supply interruption, and the panel cuts out momentarily. A genuine 7.4V cell with low internal resistance sustains voltage under load and prevents this dropout.

Battery indicator showing full, then panel dies without warning

The AMARAN AL-528 series uses a simple LED fuel gauge rather than a coulomb-counting circuit. It reads resting voltage, not actual state of charge under load. A cell that reads 8.2V at rest can still sag hard once the LEDs fire at full power. The indicator stays green until the cell collapses, then the panel shuts off abruptly with no warning stage. Check resting voltage with a multimeter — a healthy fully charged 7.4V Li-ion cell should read between 8.3V and 8.4V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The AL-528C panel shut off mid-shoot even though the battery indicator still showed full — what happened?

The AL-528C fuel gauge reads resting cell voltage, not load voltage. Under full-brightness draw, a cell with higher internal resistance sags below the cutoff threshold while the indicator still reads green at rest. The panel shuts down without a warning stage because there is no intermediate low-battery alert. Charge the battery fully and confirm resting voltage hits 8.3–8.4V before a shoot.

Colour output on the AL-528C looks dimmer than it did with the original battery — is the new cell the problem?

Mixed-colour mode on the AL-528C draws more current than white-only mode. If the replacement cell has higher internal resistance than the original, it sags under that extra draw and the panel's driver circuit reduces output to compensate. Run the panel at 80% brightness in colour mode and check whether output stabilises — if it does, the cell is sustaining voltage but can't hold it at full load. A cell measuring below 8.2V resting after a full charge needs replacing.

The AL-528C battery drains noticeably faster in cold outdoor shoots than in studio conditions — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is a lithium-ion chemistry behaviour. Below around 10°C, internal resistance rises and usable capacity drops, sometimes by 20–30% compared to room temperature performance. The panel draws the same current, but the cell can deliver less of its rated 2000mAh before hitting the BMS cutoff. Keep a spare cell in an inside jacket pocket to maintain its temperature, and swap batteries rather than trying to drain a cold cell to empty.
