The fitting still shows a fault LED after I've installed the new 803169 cell and left it on charge overnight — what's wrong?

A Ni-Cd cell needs at least one full charge-discharge cycle to reach its rated 4000mAh capacity. Swelling in Ni-Cd emergency lighting cells usually points to continuous trickle charge at elevated ambient temperature over an extended period. Check that the fitting is not mounted in an enclosed ceiling void or above heat-generating equipment where ambient temperature exceeds 30°C. Arts charge controllers are set for a fixed trickle rate — if the cell cannot dissipate heat fast enough, overcharge damage accumulates. Relocate the fitting to a cooler position or add ventilation clearance around the unit.
