Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Astrostart RSS 5225 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 120mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the internal cell in the Astrostart RSS 5225 remote start and keyless entry transmitter. It fits the handheld fob used to remotely start your vehicle and control door locks from a distance. Swap it in when the original cell can no longer hold a charge.

  • RSS 5225 transmitter fit: The RSS 5225 fob runs a 3.7V Li-Polymer cell at this exact footprint — 24.70 x 20.30 x 3.70mm. The connector orientation and cell dimensions match the OEM slot directly, so no adapter or modification is needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycles and confirmed the BMS accepts a full charge without triggering over-voltage cutoff. Discharge behaviour across the transmitter's RF transmission bursts stayed consistent throughout testing.
  • Re-sync after power interruption: After replacing this battery, the RSS 5225 remote will need to be re-paired to the control module. Astrostart aftermarket systems lose their rolling code sync when the remote loses power — run the system's programming sequence before testing range.

Remote start not activating after battery swap

Replacing the battery interrupts power to the transmitter's memory, which clears the rolling code sync between the fob and the control module. The module will not respond to commands it cannot validate. You need to run the RSS 5225 programming sequence — typically triggered via the valet button on the control module — before the remote start function will fire again. Check the system manual for the exact button press count and timing for your installation.

Reduced range immediately after battery replacement

A new Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V, not the 3.7V operating peak. At storage voltage, RF output from the transmitter is slightly lower, which shortens effective range. This corrects itself after the battery completes one or two full charge cycles inside the fob. Charge the remote fully before testing maximum range.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RSS 5225 remote won't trigger the vehicle start after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?

Removing the battery clears the rolling code sync stored in the transmitter. The control module rejects commands it can't match to a known code. Run the RSS 5225 programming sequence — press the valet button on the control module the correct number of times while the ignition is on — to re-establish the link. Once re-synced, the remote start function will respond normally.

The alarm is going off every time I try to use the remote after the battery swap — how do I stop it?

The RSS 5225 control module can interpret a re-inserted remote with an unsynced code as a tamper attempt, which triggers the alarm output. This is not a fault with the battery. You need to run the system's disarm sequence first — typically holding the valet button for the correct count with the ignition on — before the module will accept commands from the fob again.

My keyless entry buttons aren't unlocking the doors even though the remote start now works — different issue?

Yes, this is a separate rolling code channel. Some Astrostart installations use distinct code sequences for the remote start function and the door lock outputs. If remote start works but door lock commands are ignored, the lock/unlock channel needs its own re-sync step. Hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously near the vehicle for three to five seconds, or repeat the programming sequence targeting the door lock output — check your installation guide for which valet button press count applies to that channel.
