This is a 14.8V 2200mAh (32.56Wh) Li-ion battery for the Asus FX-PLUS, GL552, GL552J, and GL552JX series notebooks. It replaces OEM part number A41N1424. Install it when the original cell no longer holds charge or fails to power the system off AC mains.

  • FX-PLUS and GL552 platform fit: These models share the same 14.8V four-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell swap covers the full GL552 family without firmware conflicts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an FX-PLUS unit. The BMS communicated correctly with the EC, reported accurate state-of-charge, and did not trip a protection cutoff during normal CPU and display load.
  • Post-install calibration on the FX-PLUS: After fitting, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery alone, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the A41N1424

The GL552 EC reads health data from the cell's EEPROM and compares it against a stored baseline from the old battery. A fresh cell has different EEPROM values, so the EC flags it as degraded before any calibration has run. This is a firmware interpretation issue, not a cell defect. Run a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — the BIOS learn cycle rewrites the baseline and the warning clears on the next boot.

Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC updates its estimate. When the cell hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff, the system shuts down even though the OS still shows charge remaining. The fuel gauge IC needs two or three full calibration cycles against the new cell to track the voltage curve accurately. Discharge fully to hibernate each time, charge to 100%, and the shutdown threshold will align with the displayed percentage.

My GL552 shows the new battery as 0% or "unknown" in Windows right after fitting — is the cell dead?

No. The fuel gauge IC in the GL552 holds calibration data from the old cell and cannot map the new cell's voltage curve until it runs a learn cycle. Discharge the laptop fully to hibernate on battery power, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After two or three complete cycles the OS will report an accurate state-of-charge.

System info shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something different from 32.56Wh.

The Wh figure Windows reads comes from the EEPROM on the cell, not a live measurement. The rated Wh stored in firmware can differ slightly from the actual chemistry value of the replacement cell. Run the BIOS battery learn cycle — full discharge to hibernate, full charge to 100% — and the reported value will update to reflect the actual cell data.

The A41N1424 replacement stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — is it a faulty cell?

On many Asus GL552 units, the BIOS ships with a battery charge limit set to 80% to reduce cell wear. This is a firmware-controlled setting, not a battery fault. Open MyASUS or ASUS Battery Health Charging utility, check the charge mode setting, and switch it from "Balanced" or "Maximum Lifespan" to "Full Capacity" — charging will then proceed to 100%.
