Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus VivoBook Pro 15 N580 Series — 11.49V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C31N1636)
This 11.49V, 4050mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM C31N1636 cell in the Asus VivoBook Pro 15 and N580 series laptops. It fits the N580GD, N580GD-DM230T, and over 40 additional N580 variants sharing the same connector and BMS handshake. Capacity and chemistry match the original specification exactly.
- N580 platform compatibility: All covered models share the same 11.49V three-cell architecture, physical connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The BIOS on these boards reads cell data over SMBus — the replacement cell responds to that handshake correctly without firmware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an N580GD board, confirmed charge acceptance from 0% to 100% without cutoff, and verified the BMS reported cell voltage within normal range across all three cells throughout the charge curve.
- Post-install calibration on the N580: After fitting, run the laptop on battery only until it hibernates at critical charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell's actual capacity and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
Why the VivoBook Pro 15 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap
The N580 BIOS stores learned capacity data from the previous cell in a persistent register. When a new cell is installed, that stored data does not match the fresh cell's actual charge curve, so the BIOS flags health as degraded immediately. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the learn cycle and clears the warning. After two to three full cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the health status normalises.
VivoBook Pro 15 shutting down at 20–30% shown on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still using capacity data mapped to the old, degraded cell. As the battery discharges under combined CPU and display load, the actual cell voltage drops faster than the stale gauge model predicts — the system hits its low-voltage cutoff while the OS still shows charge remaining. It is not a fault in the new cell. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles, charging to 100% each time, to force the fuel gauge IC to remap against the new cell's actual voltage curve. After recalibration, the gauge and the physical cutoff point will align and shutdowns at 20–30% will stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The VivoBook Pro 15 is showing the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and won't move off zero — what's happening?
The EEPROM data from the old cell is still resident in the fuel gauge IC, and the controller is treating the new cell as unknown until it completes a full charge cycle. Leave the laptop plugged in and charging without interrupting it — do not restart or put it to sleep. Once it reaches 100% and you run one full discharge to hibernate, the IC will register the new cell correctly and the 0% reading will clear.
Windows is reporting the new C31N1636 battery as 46Wh in Settings but the BIOS health screen shows a different Wh figure — which is right?
The BIOS pulls its Wh figure from a static value written to the cell's EEPROM at manufacture, while Windows calculates Wh dynamically from measured voltage and current draw. These two figures come from different sources and a mismatch after a cell swap is normal. The Windows-reported value becomes accurate after two full calibration cycles. The EEPROM figure in the BIOS is reference data only and does not affect charging behaviour or capacity.
The VivoBook Pro 15 battery stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the replacement cell faulty?
This is almost always the BIOS charge limit feature, not the cell. Asus laptops include a battery care setting in MyASUS and in the BIOS that caps charging at 80% to reduce calendar ageing during periods of mostly plugged-in use. Open MyASUS, go to Customization → Battery Health Charging, and switch from Balanced Mode to Full Capacity Mode. The battery will then charge to 100%.
