Fits Ativa D5702, D5772 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM battery 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH packs.
Voltage 3.6V and capacity 700mAh sustain talk time and standby performance on DECT handsets.
Battery slides into handset slot vertically with flat connector tab engaging the charging contacts.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH pack on a D5702 base; BMS accepted voltage within two charge cycles.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow conditioning to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ativa D5702 / D5772 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for Ativa cordless phone handsets. It fits the D5702, D5772, D-5702, and D-5772 models. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds enough charge to get through a day of calls.

  • D5702 and D5772 handset compatibility: Both models run the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH pack with an identical connector footprint and cell arrangement. The voltage rail and physical dimensions are shared across the D5702 and D5772 handset chassis, so one battery covers all four model variants listed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on NiMH-rated test equipment. The BMS accepted full charge without cutoff errors, and cell voltage held steady across discharge at normal cordless phone standby and talk draw.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped in partial-charge storage need a slow, uninterrupted initial charge to reach rated 700mAh capacity — a quick top-up will not do it.

Talk time shorter than expected after the first few charges

NiMH batteries do not ship at full capacity. Fresh cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. If talk time feels short after the first charge, that is normal — not a fault with the cell. Run the handset until it signals low battery, then return it to the base for a full charge. By cycle four or five, capacity should be at or close to the rated 700mAh.

Base station shows no charge or error light after battery swap

A new NiMH pack stored at low voltage can fall below the threshold some Ativa base stations use to confirm a valid battery is present. The base reads the incoming voltage, and if it is too low, it stops the charge circuit rather than risk a fault. Place the handset in the base and wait — most units will begin trickle charging within a few minutes once the cell voltage climbs above roughly 3.0V. If the error light clears after 15 to 30 minutes and the charge indicator appears, the battery is accepting current normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Ativa D5772 handset loses range right after the battery is replaced — is something wrong with the new pack?

Range drop after a swap usually means the NiMH cell voltage is sagging under the RF transmit load before the pack is fully conditioned. A fresh or storage-discharged NiMH battery cannot sustain the voltage the handset needs during transmission bursts, so the radio pulls back power. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first. After conditioning, the pack holds voltage steadier under RF load and range returns to normal.

My Ativa D5702 handset lost its pairing with the base after I pulled the old battery out — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT cordless phones clear their pairing data when power is fully lost. This is not caused by the new battery — it happens regardless of which pack you install. Re-register the handset using the pairing or locator button on the base station. Check your D5702 manual for the exact button sequence — it typically takes under 60 seconds.

The handset shows low battery by morning even though I put it in the base every night — why is the new battery draining overnight?

This is a standby draw issue, not a faulty cell. If the handset is not fully seated in the base cradle, the charging contacts do not make a clean connection and the phone runs on battery overnight instead of drawing from the base. Check that the handset clicks or sits flush in the cradle and that the charge indicator light on the base is active. If the light is off, reseat the handset and confirm the contacts on both the handset and base are clean and free of dust.
