GE 86420 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 850mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for GE cordless phone handsets using OEM part number 86420. It powers the handset directly, supplying the voltage rail that drives both the DECT radio module and the standby circuit. When a NiMH pack sits in storage, its resting voltage drops. If it drops below the GE base station's acceptance threshold, the charger circuit reads it as a fault and refuses to begin charging. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — full contact on the charge pins is required. If the base still shows no charge light, check that the pack voltage is above 2.0V with a multimeter before assuming a fault with the base itself.
