Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Automate 7857A — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (JFC301819)

This is a 3.7V 70mAh Li-Polymer cell for the Automate 7857A key fob. It fits the transmitter used for remote start, door lock, and keyless entry functions. Swap it when the fob stops triggering the vehicle or shows reduced response at close range.

  • Automate 7857A fob platform: The 7857A transmitter runs on a single Li-Polymer cell at 3.7V nominal. The fob's internal circuit draws from this cell directly — there is no secondary regulation stage, so cell voltage tracks directly to transmit power and signal consistency.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the bench. The protection circuit handled over-discharge cutoff cleanly and recovered to full charge voltage without BMS lockout.
  • Re-sync after battery swap: After replacing the battery, re-sync the remote to the Automate control module. The 7857A system requires a programming sequence after any power interruption to the fob — without it, the transmitter will not activate the remote start or entry functions.

Remote start not activating after battery swap on the 7857A

Fitting a new cell does not automatically restore communication with the Automate control module. The 7857A uses a rolling code system that loses its position when the fob loses power. After the swap, the fob and module need to re-establish their code sequence through the system's programming sequence. Check the 7857A installation guide for the exact button combination — most Automate remotes require pressing a specific key sequence within range of the vehicle to complete re-pairing.

Fob range shorter than expected right after fitting the new cell

A fresh Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — not at full charge. At storage voltage, transmit power is slightly below peak, which can cut effective range. Charge the fob fully before the first use if your charger supports it, or allow two to three normal use cycles for the cell to reach operating voltage. If range stays short after that, confirm the replacement re-sync completed correctly, as an incomplete pairing can also suppress signal output.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Automate 7857A remote still won't lock or unlock the car after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

A fresh battery alone does not restore the rolling code link between the fob and the control module. Any power interruption resets the fob's position in the rolling code sequence, so the module rejects its signals. Run the 7857A re-pairing sequence — stand within a few metres of the vehicle, then follow the button combination in the Automate installation guide to re-sync. Once the module accepts the fob, lock and unlock commands will resume normally.

The car alarm went off when I swapped the battery in my Automate 7857A fob — how do I stop it?

The Automate control module treats a fob that suddenly stops transmitting as a possible tamper event, which can trigger the alarm output. Use the system's standard disarm sequence — typically pressing the disarm button on a secondary remote or entering the override PIN — to clear the alarm state. After disarming, complete the fob re-pairing sequence so the module recognises the fob again. If the alarm re-triggers, check that the new cell is seated correctly and making full contact with both terminals, as an intermittent connection can repeat the tamper signal.

The Automate 7857A fob worked fine for a few weeks after a new battery, but now the range has dropped noticeably — is the battery failing already?

Li-Polymer cells in small fobs are sensitive to shallow cycling — repeated short transmissions without full recharge cycles can cause gradual capacity fade faster than deep cycling would. Check that the cell voltage reads at least 3.7V under no load; a reading below 3.5V indicates the cell has dropped out of its usable range. If the fob is rarely charged between uses, allow it to charge fully and run a complete cycle before concluding the cell is faulty. A cell holding below 3.5V after a full charge should be replaced.
