Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Avaya 3626 / BPX100 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (SK37H1-D)

This is a 3.6V, 1100mAh Ni-MH battery for the Avaya 3626, 3636, 3216, and BPX100 cordless handsets. It replaces OEM part SK37H1-D and restores full wireless operation to handsets that have lost charge capacity over time. Physical dimensions are 58.12 × 45.30 × 15.60mm — confirm these against your current pack before ordering.

  • 3626 / BPX100 platform fit: These models share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH format, connector orientation, and base-station charge circuit. One pack covers all listed handsets without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Avaya base station charge circuit. The charge acceptance voltage landed within spec and the base showed a normal charge indicator — no error state triggered on the units we ran.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step is the most common cause of shortened talk time complaints on fresh replacements.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged, low-activity state. Until the cells complete three to five full charge-discharge cycles, usable capacity sits well below the rated 1100mAh. The base station's trickle-charge circuit is part of this conditioning process — it cannot be rushed with a fast external charger. After five normal cycles through the Avaya base, talk time should reach the rated figure.

Base station showing a charge error or no-charge light on a new pack

NiMH batteries that have sat in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the Avaya base uses to confirm a valid pack is present. If the base shows an error light or simply does not begin charging, the pack voltage is likely too low for the charge circuit to accept. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the charge detection cycle. If the error persists after two reseating attempts, use a compatible external NiMH charger to raise the pack voltage above 3.0V, then return it to the base.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Avaya 3626 handset loses range within the first few minutes of a call — is that the battery?

Yes, and it is a voltage-sag issue specific to NiMH under RF load. When the handset transmits, it draws a short burst of current that a low or unconditioned NiMH pack cannot sustain cleanly — the voltage dips, and the radio backs off transmit power to compensate. Run three full charge-discharge cycles through the Avaya base station first. After conditioning, the pack holds voltage flat enough under transmit load to maintain normal range.

The handset was working fine, but after leaving it off the base overnight the battery is completely flat by morning.

This is standby drain, not a faulty battery. NiMH cells self-discharge faster than Lithium chemistry — an Avaya handset left off the base overnight can lose a significant portion of its charge through normal self-discharge plus the handset's idle standby current. Always return the handset to the base when not in use. If the pack drains to zero repeatedly without being cycled back up, the cells can enter a deep-discharge state — seat it in the base for a full 16-hour charge before assuming the pack has failed.

The 3626 lost its DECT pairing after I swapped the battery — now it won't connect to the base.

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT cordless phones clear their pairing data when power is fully lost. The fix is a manual re-registration, not a battery fault. Press and hold the registration button on the base station until the pairing LED flashes, then follow the handset's registration menu — typically found under Settings > Register Handset. Once re-registered, the handset will reconnect to the base normally.
