Fits Baofeng UV-3R, UV-3R Mark 2, UV-100, UV-200 handheld radio units.
3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 3.89Wh to power transmit and receive cycles.
Slip-fit battery slot with single locking tab on radio body—no connector pins.
We bench-tested the pack on Baofeng's standard charge dock; BMS accepted dock voltage handshake immediately without fault indication.
On first insertion into the dock, if the charger blinks amber, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip on the pack with a dry cloth before reseating—Baofeng dock logic requires a clean contact cycle to accept new cell impedance.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Baofeng UV-3R / UV-3R Mark 2 / UV-100 / UV-200 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1050mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Baofeng UV-3R, UV-3R Mark 2, UV-100, and UV-200 handheld dual-band transceivers. All four models share the same slim-profile battery bay and contact arrangement. Dimensions are 53.20 × 35.30 × 7.10mm — verify against your original pack before fitting.

  • UV-3R / UV-100 / UV-200 platform fit: These four models use the same battery footprint, connector polarity, and BMS communication threshold. One pack services any unit in the group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge cycles on the UV-3R and held PTT for sustained transmit bursts. The BMS handled the transmit current spike without tripping and the charger accepted the pack on first insertion.
  • First-insertion contact check: If the UV-3R charger LED blinks amber and does not settle, remove the battery and wipe the three gold contact pads with a dry cloth. Residue from packaging can break the BMS handshake before the first charge cycle starts.

Why the UV-3R cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

The UV-3R draws a short current spike the moment PTT is pressed to bring the RF stage up. If the new pack shipped at a low storage voltage — typically under 3.5V — the BMS may interpret that spike as an overcurrent event and cut output immediately. This is a BMS protection response, not a faulty cell. Charge the battery fully before the first PTT press and the trip threshold resets. A full charge brings cell voltage to approximately 4.2V, which gives the BMS enough headroom to pass the transmit surge cleanly.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting

The UV-3R reads battery level using fixed voltage thresholds — each bar maps to a voltage band, not a percentage from a fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage of around 3.7V will display one or two bars even though the cell is not depleted. This is normal. Run one full charge cycle and the indicator will step up to reflect actual cell state. No reset or menu change is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

My UV-3R goes silent the moment I press PTT — the battery looks fully charged but it cuts every time. What's happening?

The transmit current spike on the UV-3R is sharp enough to trip the BMS overcurrent protection if the cell voltage is even slightly below the BMS trip threshold — this happens most often on a pack that has not yet completed its first proper charge cycle. Remove the battery, place it back in the charger, and let it run to a solid green before any transmit test. Once the cell reaches 4.2V, the BMS has enough headroom to pass the PTT surge without cutting.

The charger LED blinks and never settles into a solid charge light after I insert the new battery — what do I do?

A blinking charge LED on the UV-3R dock usually means the dock cannot read the BMS because the contact pads have a thin film of packaging residue blocking the connection. Remove the battery, wipe all three gold contact pads on the battery and the pins in the dock with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the LED still blinks, the cell shipped below the dock's acceptance voltage — charge via a compatible Li-ion charger at 3.7V nominal to bring it above the 3.0V recovery threshold before returning it to the dock.

After a few weeks sitting unused, the radio powers on but drops to one bar almost immediately during a transmission. Is the cell dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and a UV-3R pack left unused for several weeks can drop below 3.5V — low enough that the radio's voltage-threshold bar indicator reads depleted and TX power reduces under load. The cell is not dead. Put it on the charger for a full cycle and check resting voltage after charge; a healthy cell will sit at 4.1–4.2V. If resting voltage falls back below 3.8V within 24 hours off charge with no load, the cell has degraded and needs replacement.
