Fits the Icom IC-RX7 portable receiver; replaces OEM battery BP-244.
This 3.7V lithium-ion cell delivers 1050mAh capacity for sustained field monitoring.
Spring-loaded connector accepts the IC-RX7 battery slot with firm downward seating.
We bench-tested this pack in an IC-RX7 dock; BMS accepted charge immediately.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Icom platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Icom IC-RX7 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-244)

This is a 3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-ion replacement for the BP-244 battery pack. It fits the Icom IC-RX7 compact portable receiver. Voltage and cell chemistry match the original spec exactly.

  • IC-RX7 receiver platform: The IC-RX7 runs a single-cell Li-ion rail at 3.7V nominal. The BP-244 form factor locks into the receiver's battery bay with a fixed connector orientation — no adapter needed. The BMS in this pack communicates the same charge acceptance signal the IC-RX7 charger expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the IC-RX7 platform. The BMS held charge termination cleanly and did not trigger premature cutoff during normal receive-mode draw. No voltage instability was recorded at the cell terminals.
  • First-insertion contact cycle: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the BP-244, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The IC-RX7 charging dock requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before it begins charging.

IC-RX7 bar indicator showing fewer bars than expected on a new BP-244

New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.7V — not at full charge. The IC-RX7 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, so a new pack at storage voltage will display one or two fewer bars than a fully charged one. This is not a cell fault. Run one full charge cycle through the dock before judging capacity. After a complete charge, the cell should sit at approximately 4.2V and bars should read at maximum.

BMS lockout after the BP-244 has been stored unused for several months

Li-ion cells left unused will self-discharge over time. If the BP-244 drops below roughly 2.5V, the BMS enters a protective lockout state and the charger dock will not initiate a standard charge cycle. In this state the dock may show no LED response at all. Some chargers with a trickle or recovery mode can bring the cell back up to the 3.0V threshold needed for the BMS to re-initialise — check whether your dock has a recovery mode, or source a compatible charger that supports Li-ion pre-charge below 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The IC-RX7 charger dock fault LED won't clear after I inserted the new BP-244 — what's happening?

The dock fault LED usually means the pack's BMS handshake didn't complete on first insertion. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly. If the fault LED persists, check the dock contacts for corrosion — a thin layer of oxidation is enough to break the signal. Clean dock contacts with a dry cotton swab, then reinsert the BP-244.

The IC-RX7 shows only one bar after the new BP-244 arrived — is the cell faulty?

Almost certainly not. New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage, around 3.6V, which sits below the IC-RX7's top bar threshold. The receiver's bar indicator is a simple voltage-threshold display — it reads storage voltage as a partially charged pack. Put the BP-244 through one full charge cycle in the dock first. After charging, cell voltage should reach approximately 4.2V and bars should read at maximum.

My IC-RX7 cuts out completely while I'm monitoring a frequency, even though the battery looked fine a moment before — what causes that?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by a brief current spike — even in receive mode, squelch activity and speaker output can pull enough instantaneous current to trigger the protection circuit on a cell that's nearing its low-voltage cutoff. The BMS cuts the output to protect the cell, and the radio goes dark. Check cell voltage before use; if it reads below 3.5V, put the pack on charge. The radio should power on normally once the cell is above 3.7V.
