Bingo Pro B-31 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Bingo Pro B-31 portable medical device. It replaces the original cell when capacity has degraded and the device can no longer hold a charge through a full session. Voltage, chemistry, and physical dimensions match the original pack at 44.80 × 20.80 × 11.42mm.

• Pro B-31 cell match: The B-31 uses a 2.4V Ni-MH cell rail with a BMS that validates chemistry and charge state at startup. Substituting a Li-ion or alternative chemistry cell will cause a hard BMS fault. This replacement uses the correct Ni-MH chemistry to pass that handshake without issue.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load on the bench to confirm BMS handshake completion and stable discharge at the B-31's rated draw. The protection circuit held cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold without tripping early.

Why the Pro B-31 triggers a low battery alarm on a freshly charged new cell

The B-31's charge management IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold during the first charge cycle on any new Ni-MH cell. A brand-new cell has not yet established its full electrochemical capacity, so the BMS reads its charge state as lower than actual. This causes the low battery alarm to fire even when the cell is fully charged. One complete charge-discharge cycle recalibrates the BMS threshold, and the alarm clears on subsequent charges.

Device will not power on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day in storage. If the replacement battery shipped or sat unused for several weeks, the cell voltage may have dropped below the B-31's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 1.0V per cell. At that point the BMS blocks the power-on sequence to prevent damage. Place the cell on charge for a full uninterrupted cycle before attempting to power on the device; voltage must recover above the BMS floor, approximately 2.2V on this 2.4V pack, before startup is permitted.
