Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlueBird Pidion BIP-6000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NX5-2004)
This 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the BlueBird Pidion BIP-6000 handheld mobile data terminal. The BIP-6000 is used across retail, warehouse, and logistics environments for barcode scanning and inventory management. OEM part numbers NX5-2004 and J62510N0272 both cross-reference this pack directly.
- BIP-6000 platform fit: The BIP-6000 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a BMS that monitors cell voltage and temperature independently. This pack matches the connector pinout and charge profile the device firmware expects — the BMS handshake initialises correctly on first insertion.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the BIP-6000 platform. The BMS held cutoff at 3.0V on discharge and accepted charge termination at 4.2V with no error flags from the host device.
- First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge — starting the shift on a full cell prevents false BMS trips during the first hour of use.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new BIP-6000 pack
The BIP-6000 cradle reads battery status through the dock contacts on the base of the pack. If those contacts oxidise during storage or pick up handling residue, the cradle throws a charge error even when the pack itself is fine. The dock interprets high contact resistance as a fault condition rather than a low battery. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, reseat the unit firmly, and the charging indicator should return to normal within 30 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The BIP-6000 pulls current from two sources simultaneously during a rapid scan sequence — the imager or laser draw and the wireless radio polling the network. Combined, these inrush spikes can pull the cell voltage below the BMS low-voltage threshold momentarily, causing the radio stack to drop. This is most common when the pack is below 20% charge. The fix is operational: keep the pack above 3.6V during heavy scan runs, and if dropouts persist on a new pack at full charge, check that the wireless polling interval in the device settings is not set to its fastest rate unnecessarily.

Frequently Asked Questions
My BIP-6000 won't read barcodes after I swapped in the new battery — the scanner powers on but the imager doesn't fire reliably. What's wrong?
The BIP-6000 imager needs the cell voltage above a minimum threshold before the scan trigger circuit draws full power. If the replacement pack shipped in a low state of charge, the imager may fire weakly or not at all on the first attempt. Place the unit in its cradle and charge it fully before scanning — once the cell reaches 4.1V, the imager should fire consistently on every trigger pull.
The BIP-6000 gets noticeably warm during an extended warehouse shift. Is that a battery problem?
Sustained heat in the BIP-6000 housing during long shifts is usually normal — the combination of continuous wireless polling and repeated scan trigger draws generates steady current flow through the pack, and the enclosed housing traps that heat. It becomes a concern if the device is hot to the touch at the start of a shift or if the BMS trips and cuts power unexpectedly. If the pack surface temperature feels excessive early in a shift, check that the device is not left in direct sunlight between scan runs, as ambient heat adds to the internal cell temperature the BMS monitors.
The new battery doesn't last as long as the original did when it was new. What's draining it faster?
Two variables hit BIP-6000 endurance hardest — scan burst frequency and wireless polling rate. A device set to poll the network every 100ms draws significantly more from the cell than one polling every 500ms, even with identical scan volume. Check the wireless configuration in the device management settings and set the polling interval to match actual workflow needs rather than the fastest available option. Also confirm the replacement pack capacity matches the original: this pack is rated at 5200mAh, so if the original was a lower-capacity variant, endurance will actually be longer, not shorter.
