Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec CK70 / CK71 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (318-046-001)
This 3.7V 6800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the depleted or failing pack in the Intermec CK70 and CK71 rugged handheld computers. These devices are workhorses in warehouse picking, retail stocktaking, and field data collection — a dead battery stops a shift. This pack matches the OEM voltage, capacity, and connector spec for both models.
- CK70 and CK71 platform fit: Both models run the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One pack covers either unit — no hardware modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless radio draws simultaneously. The BMS held voltage within spec across combined inrush events and did not trip under sustained multi-function load.
- First-shift cradle protocol: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its dock and run a full charge cycle before taking it to the floor. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge — a pre-charged pack stops the BMS from tripping false low-voltage cutoffs on the first pick run of the shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a brand-new pack
A charging error on a new pack is almost always a contact resistance problem, not a faulty battery. Dock contacts on the CK70 cradle oxidise with daily insertions, and a new pack with clean terminals creates a resistance mismatch the charger interprets as a fault. Remove the pack, wipe both the battery terminals and the dock contacts with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, the pack and charger are both fine.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The CK70 runs the scan imager and the 802.11 radio simultaneously during active picking. Each scan trigger pulls a current spike on top of the continuous radio polling load — together they can drag cell voltage low enough for the BMS to briefly cut output. This shows up as a dropped Wi-Fi session or a frozen screen mid-scan, not as a dead unit. Verify the pack is at full charge before the shift and check that the battery terminals are seated clean and flat against the bay contacts. A resting pack voltage of 3.7V or above before the shift starts prevents most of these mid-burst dropout events.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CK70 stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — the scanner powers on fine but the trigger does nothing.
The imager needs a minimum voltage threshold to fire the scan engine — if the new pack shipped at storage charge (typically around 3.4V), it may not have enough headroom for the laser or imager circuit even though the device boots. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge to full before use. Once the pack hits 3.7V resting voltage, the scan trigger should respond normally on the first pull.
The CK70 gets noticeably warm after a few hours on the warehouse floor — is that the battery or the device?
Sustained heat in the CK70 during extended shifts comes from the combined draw of the scan engine firing repeatedly and the wireless radio polling constantly inside an enclosed housing with limited airflow. The battery itself will be warm to the touch — that is normal under this load profile. If the unit is hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, check that the housing vents are not blocked and that the pack terminals are seated fully, as a poorly seated pack creates extra resistance and heat. A surface temperature that drops within a few minutes of the scanner going idle confirms the battery and device are both behaving as expected.
After a few weeks of daily use, the CK70 is not lasting as long per shift as it did when the battery was new — what changes shift-end to shift-end?
Shallow cycling — pulling the pack off the dock after only a partial charge each time — causes Li-ion cells to lose calibration between the BMS state-of-charge reading and actual cell capacity. The scanner reports full but the usable window shrinks. Run two or three full charge cycles: place the CK70 in the dock, let it charge until the cradle indicator shows complete, then use it until the low-battery warning appears before docking again. This recalibrates the BMS and typically recovers the capacity loss you are seeing.
