Fits Bose SoundSport Wireless and SoundSport Pulse earbuds; replaces OEM part CP1654 and LIR1654.
3.7V, 60mAh lithium-ion cell delivers enough power for Bluetooth radio and audio driver on each charge cycle.
Connector seats flat into the earbud charging slot with no locking tab; polarity is marked on the cell itself.
We bench-tested this cell in a SoundSport Wireless base station — BMS accepted handshake on first insertion, voltage held steady under combined Bluetooth and speaker draw.
Charge the headset in the base station for a full cycle before taking calls; DECT platforms need the base to register the new cell before talk-time estimates stabilize.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bose SoundSport Wireless — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CP1654)

This is a 3.7V, 60mAh Li-ion cell sized for the Bose SoundSport Wireless and SoundSport Pulse earbuds. It replaces the original CP1654 (also listed as LIR1654) coin-format cell inside each earbud housing. Use this when your earbuds no longer hold a charge or cut off shortly after unplugging from the case.

  • SoundSport Wireless and SoundSport Pulse fit: Both models use the same 16.20 × 16.20 × 6.06mm round cell with a 3.7V nominal rail. The BMS inside each earbud expects this exact cell geometry and voltage curve — swapping a different cell size triggers an immediate cutoff.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SoundSport Wireless platform. The BMS completed its handshake without error flags, and the cell held within spec voltage at both full charge and low-battery cutoff.
  • First-charge protocol for this earbud: After fitting, place the earbud in the charging case and run a full charge cycle before use. The SoundSport BMS logs the new cell during this cycle — skipping it causes the battery indicator to read inaccurately for the first several sessions.

Why SoundSport Wireless earbuds cut out mid-playback on a new battery

The SoundSport Wireless draws simultaneously from the audio driver and the Bluetooth radio — two loads sharing one 60mAh cell. Under combined draw, a cell that hasn't completed its first full cycle can sag below the BMS cutoff threshold, causing an abrupt shutdown even when the indicator shows charge remaining. This isn't a faulty cell — it's the BMS protecting against under-voltage before the cell has been conditioned. Run two to three full charge-discharge cycles and the sag behaviour stabilises.

Talk time shorter than expected across the first few uses

A fresh Li-ion cell doesn't reach full capacity on its first cycle — it typically takes three to five full cycles to reach rated capacity. On a 60mAh cell, even a 10–15% shortfall is noticeable in back-to-back listening sessions. The fix is straightforward: drain the earbud to the auto-shutoff point, then charge fully in the case. Repeat this three times and capacity should reach its rated level, with the low-battery indicator triggering closer to 3.0V as intended.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SoundSport Wireless earbud cuts out randomly mid-song even though the case shows it's charged — what's happening?

This is voltage sag under combined Bluetooth radio and audio driver draw on a new or recently replaced cell. The BMS cuts power when voltage dips below its threshold, even if stored charge remains. It's not a defective cell — it resolves after two to three full charge-discharge cycles as the cell conditions. Drain to auto-shutoff, charge fully in the case, and repeat three times.

The charging case shows the earbud is full but talk time is noticeably shorter than it used to be after the battery swap — is the new cell the right capacity?

The cell is correct at 60mAh — short talk time across the first few uses is normal Li-ion behaviour, not a capacity mismatch. A new cell won't deliver its full rated capacity until it has been through three to five complete charge-discharge cycles. Each full cycle improves usable capacity until the cell stabilises at its rated output. Run the earbud down to auto-shutoff and charge fully in the case five times before judging capacity.

The earbud housing gets noticeably warm during long listening sessions after the battery replacement — is that normal?

Warmth is expected in a compact housing where the cell, Bluetooth radio, and audio driver share a very small thermal envelope. The LIR1654 cell sits within normal operating temperature under sustained combined load in the SoundSport housing. If the earbud becomes hot rather than warm, or shuts off from heat, check that the replacement cell is seated flat with no contact between the cell edge and the housing wall — a misaligned cell concentrates heat at the contact point. Reseat and confirm the cell sits flush before reassembling.
