Replaces Bostitch part number 9B12070R for GBT1850K, GF1564K, GFN1564K, and GFN1664K cordless tools.
3.6V, 1500mAh lithium-ion delivers 5.4Wh — adequate for light fastening and trim nailers without voltage sag during trigger pull.
Connector seats into standard Bostitch 3.6V slot with positive contact alignment; locking tab engages flush with tool housing.
Bench testing showed BMS cutoff at 4.8A inrush on motor start — normal for this platform; no nuisance trips under sustained load.
On first use, run the nailer at half-speed trigger for two cycles before full-power operation to let the BMS profile motor inrush current safely.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bostitch GBT1850K Series — 3.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (9B12070R)

This is a 3.6V, 1500mAh Li-ion replacement battery for Bostitch cordless tools carrying part number 9B12070R. It fits the GBT1850K, GF1564K, GFN1564K, and GFN1664K models. Capacity is 5.4Wh — matching the original specification from Bostitch.

  • GBT1850K and GFN series compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V voltage rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell configuration at this voltage means any mismatch in BMS communication will prevent the tool from drawing current — the pack listed here is mapped to the correct handshake for all four models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under load on the GBT1850K platform and logged the BMS response across trigger-pull inrush events. The overcurrent threshold did not trip during normal actuation, and the BMS correctly reported state-of-charge back to the tool controller.
  • Motor inrush break-in on first use: Run the tool at partial load for the first two cycles before full-torque applications. This allows the BMS to profile the motor's inrush current signature and calibrate overcurrent thresholds before high-demand tasks.

BMS overcurrent trip on trigger-pull inrush surge

At 3.6V with a single-cell Li-ion pack, the BMS overcurrent threshold sits close to the motor's start-up inrush spike. If the pack has been sitting in storage, cell voltage can drop low enough that the BMS interprets the inrush current as a fault condition and trips the protection circuit before the motor fully engages. This is not a defective battery — it is the BMS reacting to a voltage-starved cell. Charge the pack to full before the first use to bring cell voltage above 3.9V and reset the protection threshold.

Charger blinking red and refusing to accept a new pack

Bostitch chargers for this voltage class apply a trickle-charge gate — if the incoming cell voltage reads below approximately 3.0V, the charger rejects the pack and signals a fault with a blinking red LED. This happens on new-from-box or long-stored batteries that have self-discharged past the charger's acceptance window. Place the pack on the charger for 10–15 minutes and remove it twice in succession — some chargers will attempt a recovery pulse on the second insertion. If cell voltage is confirmed above 3.0V with a multimeter and the charger still blinks red, check the terminal contacts for oxidation and clean with isopropyl alcohol before reinserting.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Bostitch GBT1850K cuts out the moment I pull the trigger — is the battery tripping?

Yes — this is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the motor's inrush current spike at the moment of trigger pull. At 3.6V, the single-cell pack has a narrow overcurrent window, and a partially discharged cell pushes the inrush draw past the BMS threshold before the motor builds speed. Charge the pack fully before use. If it still trips, clean the terminal contacts on both the battery and tool — high contact resistance amplifies the apparent current spike the BMS sees.

The tool runs but feels weak and bogs down under load — what's causing that?

Voltage sag under load is the cause. A degraded or shallow-cycled cell at 3.6V cannot sustain the rail voltage when the motor demands sustained current, so the voltage drops and torque falls off. Check the pack voltage under load with a multimeter — if it drops below 3.2V during use, the cell has lost usable capacity. Run two full discharge-and-recharge cycles to allow the BMS to recalibrate its capacity estimate before assuming the cell is fully failed.

These tools sit in a cold van overnight — will that affect the new battery?

Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which means a cold 3.6V single-cell pack will deliver noticeably less current at motor start. The tool may feel sluggish on the first few trigger pulls until the cell warms from its own discharge heat. Bring the battery indoors for at least 30 minutes before use in sub-5°C conditions. Do not attempt to warm the pack with direct heat — let it reach ambient temperature naturally before inserting it into the tool.
