Fits Braun flashlight models that use OEM part number 14500CY battery cartridge.
This 3.7V lithium-ion cell delivers 800mAh capacity for sustained output in handheld Braun torches.
Single 14500CY format fits the standard cylindrical slot with spring-contact base and positive terminal cap.
We bench-tested this cell in a Braun flashlight driver; BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly on first insertion without fault cycling.
On first use, run the flashlight in standard mode for two full discharge cycles before switching to turbo mode; the Li-ion chemistry needs initial stabilization under the driver's load profile.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Braun 14500CY — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion cell in the 14500 format, replacing OEM part 14500CY in Braun handheld flashlights. The 14500 is a lithium cell the same physical size as an AA, so confirm your flashlight is rated for 3.7V before installing — it will not safely substitute for a 1.5V alkaline AA. Capacity matches the original at 800mAh (2.96Wh).

  • 14500 format flashlight compatibility: Braun lights using the 14500CY share a single-cell driver circuit tuned to a 3.7V nominal input. The cell's flat-top contact and 14.6mm diameter match the factory spring and tube geometry without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The protection circuit on the cell tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted a full charge without thermal event at the rated 3.7V nominal.
  • Single-cell replacement tip: If your flashlight uses more than one 14500CY cell, replace all cells at the same time from the same production batch. Mixing a fresh cell with a partially degraded one forces the weaker cell to discharge first under high-current draw, accelerating its failure.

Flashlight driver stepping down output before the battery indicator reads low

A 14500 Li-ion cell's usable voltage window sits between roughly 4.2V (full) and 3.0V (cutoff). Flashlight drivers use brownout protection — they drop the light to a lower output mode when cell voltage sags under load, even when a basic indicator still shows charge remaining. This is the driver protecting the cell from deep discharge, not a fault. Switching to a lower output mode at this point lets you continue using the light while the remaining capacity drains more evenly.

Significantly shorter runtime in turbo mode vs. standard mode

Turbo mode on most single-cell 14500 flashlights draws 5–10 times the current of standard mode. An 800mAh cell delivering that burst current hits the driver's brownout threshold much faster than it would under a steady low-draw output. This is a physics constraint of the cell's capacity, not a defect. To extend each charge cycle, use turbo in short bursts and drop back to standard or low mode for sustained illumination.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Braun flashlight dims to a low mode on its own even though I just charged it — what's going on?

The flashlight's driver circuit monitors cell voltage under load, not just at rest. When the 14500CY cell drops below the driver's brownout threshold during a high-draw burst, the driver steps output down to protect the cell from deep discharge. This is normal protective behaviour, not a faulty battery. Switch to a lower output mode and the light will stabilise — the cell voltage recovers slightly when current demand drops.

I replaced the 14500CY and now one side of my two-cell flashlight drains noticeably faster than the other — why?

This happens when a new cell is paired with a cell that already has partial cycle wear. The weaker, older cell has higher internal resistance, so it reaches low-voltage cutoff faster under the same current draw. The driver then throttles the whole light based on that weaker cell. Replace both cells at the same time from the same batch to keep internal resistance matched across both positions.

The flashlight stopped working completely and won't respond to switching — has the battery fully discharged past recovery?

A 14500 Li-ion cell has an onboard protection circuit that disconnects output when voltage drops below approximately 2.5–3.0V to prevent cell damage. At that point the flashlight goes completely dark and switching does nothing. Place the cell in a dedicated Li-ion charger — not a USB passthrough device — and charge it at a low rate (0.5A or less) until the protection circuit re-engages, typically indicated by the charger showing a voltage above 3.0V.
