Fits Perel EWL23 flashlight, replacing OEM part number 31065422 directly.
4.8V, 2200mAh Ni-MH cell restores full brightness output to your rechargeable torch.
Cylindrical pack slides into the original battery tube with no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell through five full discharge cycles; the BMS accepted charge at standard rate with no early cutoff.
If runtime drops noticeably in turbo mode compared to standard mode, switch to standard mode — turbo draws significantly more current per minute and will cycle the driver into power-save mode faster.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Perel EWL23 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (31065422)

This is a 4.8V, 2200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Perel EWL23 rechargeable flashlight. It matches the OEM part number 31065422 and slots directly into the original battery compartment. When original cells lose capacity after repeated charge cycles, this replacement restores full output to the light.

  • EWL23 battery pack compatibility: The EWL23 uses a 4.8V Ni-MH pack — four cells in series driving the LED driver circuit at the voltage rail it expects. Swapping to a different voltage or chemistry causes the driver to behave unpredictably or not power on at all.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the EWL23 circuit. The BMS accepted charge normally and the driver held stable output across the discharge curve without stepping down prematurely.
  • Multi-cell replacement rule for the EWL23: This pack contains four cells wired in series. Never supplement it by mixing one new cell with remaining old cells from a previous pack — the weakest cell sets the ceiling for the whole pack and will deplete first under high-current draw, accelerating its failure.

EWL23 driver stepping down output before the battery indicator trips

The EWL23 LED driver has a brownout protection threshold. When pack voltage drops close to that threshold under load, the driver reduces output to protect itself — even if the indicator has not yet signalled low. This is normal circuit behaviour, not a fault with the battery. A worn pack hits that threshold earlier in the discharge cycle, which is why the light dims sooner as cells age. A fresh 4.8V pack holds voltage above the threshold longer, keeping full output across more of the discharge curve.

EWL23 flashlight cycling through modes on its own near end of charge

If the EWL23 starts switching modes without input, the driver is detecting voltage instability at the pack terminals. This happens when cell capacity has dropped far enough that load current causes voltage to sag below the driver's stable operating window. The driver interprets the sag as a mode-change trigger. Switching to a lower output mode stops the cycling — or replace the pack, which should hold above 4.5V under moderate load when healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my EWL23 dim noticeably before the low-battery indicator comes on?

The EWL23 driver cuts output when pack voltage sags under load — this threshold sits above the voltage that actually triggers the indicator light. On a worn pack, cell voltage drops faster under current draw, so the driver steps down output well before the indicator trips. This is brownout protection working as intended, not a fault. If it happens early in a charge cycle, the pack cells have degraded and need replacing.

My EWL23 runs noticeably shorter on turbo mode than on standard — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — turbo mode draws significantly more current than standard mode, and higher current accelerates voltage sag across all four cells in the pack. A 2200mAh Ni-MH pack delivers that capacity at a moderate discharge rate; turbo mode pulls the pack down faster because it sits at the high end of the current draw range. This effect is more pronounced as the pack ages. Switching to standard mode extends discharge time between charges.

I replaced one dead cell in my EWL23 pack — now it drains faster than before. What happened?

Mixing a new cell with three partially aged cells puts mismatched capacity into a series circuit. The new cell cannot compensate for the lower capacity of the older cells — instead, the weaker cells hit their lower voltage limit first and the new cell ends up over-discharging to compensate, which damages it. Series packs must be replaced as a complete unit. Fit a fresh matched pack and check voltage at the pack terminals after a full charge — it should read at or above 4.8V.
